Germany to wear retro 1990 kit in first game under Jürgen Klopp
Ahead of Germany's first game of the Jürgen Klopp era, the German Football Association (DFB) have confirmed the national team will don a retro version of their 1990 away kit for the UEFA Nations League fixture against the Netherlands on 24 September.
Alongside Klopp's announcement of two separate squads for the national team's four upcoming Nations League fixtures, it was also confirmed that in their first away outing in Amsterdam, Germany will line up in a reworking of the classic adidas away kit which they wore on their way to winning the FIFA World Cup 1990 in Italy - including in their iconic penalty shoot-out victory over England in the semi-finals.
This kit is part of DFB partner adidas' Bringback collection, which was launched ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and features five reissued designs inspired by iconic Germany shirts from the past, including the 1990 away strip.
Incidentally, it is also a 'farewell' kit, given that at the end of the calendar year, the 77-year partnership between the DFB and adidas will come to an end, making this the final jersey to be released as part of this long collaboration.
As was officially confirmed back in March 2024, Nike will be taking over the responsibility of equipping the national team until at least 2034.
On 16 November, Germany will take to the field in an adidas outfit for the final time, in the reverse fixture against the Oranje at the iconic Olympiastadion in Berlin.
