Eintracht Frankfurt sign Colombia international Rafael Santos Borre
Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of Colombia international striker Rafael Santos Borre on a four-year deal.
Borre, 25, was a free agent following four years with River Plate. He produced 56 goals in 149 competitive appearances for the Argentinian giants.
"Rafael Santos Borre is an interesting player, who already has experience in Europe," commented Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche.
"He'll be a real boon for us with his nose for goal and finishing. It's a great transfer for us, in a sporting and financial sense."
Borre, who is part of Colombia's 2021 CONEMBOL Copa America squad, spent two years on the books at Atletico Madrid between 2015 and 2017, albeit without featuring for the first team.
The former Deportivo Cali forward found more joy whilst on loan at Villarreal during the 2016/17 campaign, scoring four times in 30 appearances, before making history for River. A Copa Libertadores champion in 2018, he also ranks as the club's leading goalscorer of the modern era.
Borre will be seen as a natural replacement for RB Leipzig-bound Andre Silva, who scored a club-record 28 Bundesliga goals last season. He is set to become the 11th Colombian to play in the German top flight after the likes of Hertha Berlin striker Jhon Cordoba and former Bayern Munich playmaker James Rodriguez.
