Sorare, the player-owned fantasy sports game, and the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga are now expanding their partnership to include the Bundesliga 2.

From now on, the players of all clubs from the Bundesliga’s second division will be available on Sorare as digital collectibles and can be used in Sorare's fantasy football game. The Bundesliga thus confirms its digital pioneering role: it is the first of the top European football leagues to take this step for its entire second division as well as the top flight. Other associations and leagues will follow in the coming weeks.

The expansion of the joint partnership means that fans and clubs in Bundesliga 2 are now also benefiting from the Sorare-DFL success story. Since June 1st, Sorare managers from all around the globe have traded over 137,000 Bundesliga collectibles.

Thanks to the addition of Bundesliga 2 to the Sorare game, German clubs are making themselves even more accessible to international fans. Sorare counts over 2 million registered users to date, who are intensively involved with selecting players and compiling their own teams in the manager game. The Bundesliga 2 is one of the most competitive leagues in Europe, and is home to elite players and rising stars from around the world. Therefore, it is a perfect fit for Sorare, given that the scouting aspect has always played a decisive role in the fantasy manager game. The more Sorare managers get involved with the integrated leagues and clubs, the better their chances of discovering strong players for their fantasy team before anyone else. Sorare managers from over 185 countries will therefore pay special attention to Bundesliga 2 in the future.

"Anyone who follows Bundesliga 2 knows that the fans and the quality on the pitch are worthy of the first division. Year after year, excitement is virtually guaranteed in all regions of the table right up to the last matchday. We are looking forward to connecting these great clubs with new fan groups and users worldwide. Sorare managers will be looking closely at Bundesliga 2 to discover promising players for their teams before anyone else," said Nicolas Julia, Chief Executive Officer of Sorare.

When we first entered into a partnership with Sorare last October and consequently extended it ahead of schedule in May, it was clear to us: we also want to take Bundesliga 2 to the next level in digital fan entertainment. The fact that we are now the first of all football leagues to integrate all its second-division clubs on Sorare and make them available for playing and trading shows the seriousness of our undertaking. We hope this is another great opportunity for our global fans to connect with their favourite teams and players, no matter where they are in the world," comments Robert Klein, CEO of Bundesliga International.

The partnership is another milestone of Sorare as a pioneer of NFT-based sports games. This year, the successful partnership with the Bundesliga was already extended. Serie A joined Sorare as the fourth of the five largest European football leagues, and Major League Baseball (MLB) was the first league partnership outside of football. In total, the company cooperates with over 280 clubs and leagues worldwide.

At the beginning of the year, tennis legend Serena Williams was welcomed on board as an investor and advisor to the board. In June, the company announced that world star Kylian Mbappé will support Sorare as its first player ambassador, while also serving as an investor. Other sporting greats such as André Schürrle, Gerard Piqué, Oliver Bierhoff and Rio Ferdinand have been with Sorare as investors and advisors for some time.
