Freshly crowned UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Munich will face Europa League counterparts Sevilla in the 2020 UEFA Super Cup at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on 24 September (kick-off: 9pm CEST/8pm BST/3pm ET).

Bayern, who beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the Champions League final to complete their second continental treble, became the first side to win every game en route to the title (11 wins). Hansi Flick's men are also only the third team in Champions League history to hit the 500-goal mark in the competition, after Barcelona (517) and Real Madrid (567).

Spain's Sevilla won the Europa League for a record sixth time thanks to their 3-2 victory over Inter Milan in Cologne.

Six-time European champions Bayern will be making their fifth Super Cup appearance. They lifted the trophy for the first time in 2013, beating English Premier League outfit Chelsea on penalties after the contest finished 2-2 after extra-time. The Bavarians are the only German team to have won the competition.

Sevilla got their hands on the Super Cup in 2006, but lost out in 2007, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

The teams' only competitive meeting to date came in the 2017/18 Champions League quarter-finals, when Bayern won 2-1 in Seville before playing out a goalless draw at the Allianz Arena.

The Super Cup is UEFA club competition's traditional season curtain-raiser. The match - between the Champions League and Europa League winners - had been scheduled to take place at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto, Portugal, on 12 August, before the UEFA Executive Committee announced their decision to postpone the 2019/20 season's club finals.

The Champions League and Europa League resumed in August, starting with outstanding last-16 ties and continuing in a one-off one-legged format for the remainder of the competition. All fixtures were played behind closed doors.

UEFA have confirmed they are considering using the Super Cup as a trial for allowing fans back into stadiums.
