Record-breaker Harry Kane reaches 100-goal milestone as Bayern Munich crush Werder Bremen
Harry Kane scored twice to reach 100 goals for Bayern Munich in record time as the Bundesliga leaders cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win over Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich 4-0 Werder Bremen
Goals: 1-0 Tah 22' (assist: Olise), 2-0 Kane pen. 45', 3-0 Kane 65' (assist: Díaz), 4-0 Laimer 87' (assist: Bischof)
The defending champions burst out of the blocks and could have been ahead inside five minutes. Michael Olise twice set up Kane, but the England captain was first uncharacteristically off target before being denied by an excellent save from Arsenal loanee Karl Hein.
Despite Bremen's attempts to tighten up defensively, the pressure finally told in the 22nd minute. After the visitors struggled to clear a corner, the ball was worked back to Olise on the right, who floated a cross into the box where Jonathan Tah cleverly backheeled the ball into the net for his first Bayern goal.
Bayern continued to create chances with Serge Gnabry going close before Kane doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time after being fouled by Marco Friedl.
Kane makes history as Bayern cruise to victory
The pattern continued after the break with Bayern firmly in control. Bremen had their first effort on target in the 59th minute when Yukinari Sugawara forced Manuel Neuer into a save, but the hosts soon put the result beyond doubt.
In the 65th minute, Luis Díaz jinked his way into the box before squaring for Kane to slot home his second of the evening and his 100th goal for Bayern in just his 104th appearance, breaking a European record previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland (100 goals in 105 games at Real Madrid and Manchester City respectively).
Kane was substituted to a standing ovation with 12 minutes remaining as Kompany looked ahead to Tuesday's UEFA Champions League trip to Pafos.
There was still time for Konrad Laimer to add a fourth, finishing neatly after being played in by Tom Bischof to complete a comprehensive victory.
Player of the Match: Harry Kane
Kane continued his sensational scoring form with another brilliant performance, netting twice to help Bayern to a comfortable victory.
The England captain was a constant threat throughout, registering four shots on target and converting clinically from the penalty spot before adding his milestone 100th Bayern goal in the second half.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Kane reached his century in just 104 appearances – faster than any player in Bayern's illustrious history.
Beyond his goals, Kane's link-up play was exceptional, dropping deep to connect attacks and creating space for teammates, demonstrating why he remains one of the world's most complete forwards.
