Bayern Munich confirmed that they will be without Raphaël Guerreiro for the time being after the 32-year-old suffered a minor muscle injury in his left hamstring.

Guerreiro started in Bayern’s stunning 4-3 comeback victory over Mainz on Matchday 31 but had to be withdrawn and replaced with Jamal Musiala in the 57th minute, with the Bundesliga champions chasing a 3-1 deficit.

The club has since confirmed via its official channels that the Portuguese international suffered a minor muscle tear in his left hamstring, leaving him “ruled out for now”.

It’s potentially a big blow for Bayern ahead of the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final clash away to holders Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening at the Parc des Princes, as Guerreiro joins a growing injury list already comprised of the likes of Serge Gnabry, Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof.

It’s also perhaps a personal hit for Guerreiro himself, who is set to leave the Allianz Arena in the summer after the decision was announced back in March that he would not be extending his soon-to-be expiring contract.

With a total of 93 appearances in all competitions, two Meisterschales, and a Franz Beckenbauer Supercup to his name for the Bavarians since his arrival in the summer of 2023, it remains to be seen if Guerreiro recovers in time to feature again for Bayern.
