Bayern Munich announce winter friendly matches with Greuther Fürth and Red Bull Salzburg
Bayern Munich are set for an intensive day of preparation on 6 January with friendly matches planned against both 2 Bundesliga side Greuther Fürth and Austrian club FC Red Bull Salzburg.
Bayern have announced that the match against Fürth will be held at the FC Bayern Campus at 11:30 CET, while they will contest the encounter against Salzburg away at their Red Bull Arena at 18:00 CET.
Given the 90-minute travel time between Munich and Salzburg (by train or car), Bayern fans plus Vincent Kompany and his coaching staff should be comfortably able to follow both matches in person. Bayern plan to use different contingents of their squad in the two matches.
Dayot Upamecano and Konrad Laimer both formerly played for Salzburg, who Bayern have played five times since November 2020 - going unbeaten against the Austrian outfit four times in the Champions League and sharing an entertaining 4-4 draw in a friendly in their last meeting in January 2023.
Bayern start their winter break on 20 December after a home match against RB Leipzig on Matchday 15. The two friendly matches are the first games scheduled for the club in the new year ahead of the resumption of the Bundesliga on Matchday 16, which sees Bayern travel to Borussia Mönchengladbach on 11 January.
