Bayern Munich fans display special tifo against Bochum for club's 125th anniversary
Bayern Munich fans unfurled a vast tifo display on Matchday 25 against Bochum at the Allianz Arena to mark the club's celebrations for its 125th anniversary of their foundation.
Against Bochum, the team wore a unique jersey to mark the occasion, while supporters prepared their own contribution. Bayern fan group Club Nr. 12 put together a tifo that covered the entire stadium prior to kick-off, with a card placed on each seat to get everyone involved.
Due to safety reasons, such a large display is rare, but an exception has been made this time around. To inform supporters of the plans, an information flyer was released with the following message: “Hello Bayern fans, to mark our 125th club anniversary, we have prepared a choreography throughout the stadium. Be at your seat at least 15 minutes before kick-off. Make your neighbours aware of it, too."
Not only that, fans also heard a new club anthem for the first time. Another Club Nr. 12 initiative, the song was recorded following Bayern's 4-2 victory over Heidenheim in December with the help of German opera star Jonas Kaufmann, himself a Bayern fan.
The tune was the final one played before the team entered the field in what was a special day in Munich, despite Bayern's surprising loss to Bochum.
