Augsburg announce South Africa summer training camp
Augsburg will travel to South Africa for a 10-day training camp as part of their preparations for the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign, the club have confirmed.
Die Fuggerstädter will be based in the eastern province of Mpumalanga from 18 to 28 July. As well working on their fitness ahead of the new season, Jess Thorup's team will take part in the Mpumalanga Premier’s International Tournament and visit Kruger National Park. The trip marks Augsburg's first pre-season training camp outside of Europe.
"We're really looking forward to the upcoming trip to South Africa. It will be a valuable and enriching experience for the entire team," said Augsburg managing director Michael Ströll. "We'd also like to contribute to representing the Bundesliga abroad and raising its global profile with our stay in South Africa."
Augsburg, who finished 11th in the recently ended season, are one of four Bundesliga clubs to have announced pre-season trips overseas for the coming summer.
Bayern Munich are heading to South Korea; Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart are bound for Japan; and RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt will visit the USA.
