Mainz duo impress on international duty

Mainz midfielder Sano started twice as Japan beat Scotland (1-0) and England (1-0) over the international break, while defender Posch was involved in Austria's back-to-back wins against Ghana (5-1) and South Korea (1-0).

From teammates to rivals

The international break saw Hoffenheim trio Asllani, Hajdari and Kabak face off in the World Cup play-off match between Kosovo and Türkiye. Kabak emerged victorious on the night, playing the full 90 minutes in Türkiye's 1-0 win that sent the side to 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Mainz flying after tough start

Since 5 December, only Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart and Hoffenheim have picked up more points than Urs Fischer's resurgent side, who have lost only two of their last 14 in the league.
