Full-time: Bayer Leverkusen 1-1 Bayern Munich

A whirlwind game eventually comes to an end. Leverkusen started the second half well before 10-man Bayern found their rhythm again. They had a goal disallowed from Kane, which should have kicked the hosts into gear. They handed the visitors the equaliser shortly after however, but the drama didn't stop there. Having equalised, Díaz was then given a second yellow for a dive and Bayern went down to nine. Hofmann thought he scored the winner at the death, before seeing his goal ruled out for offside.

Half-time: Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Bayern Munich

Leverkusen take a slender lead and a man advantage into the break after a strong first half performance. They took an early lead thanks to brilliant work from García and defended resolutely for the remainder of the half, even having a couple of chances to double their lead. Bayern's mission to pull back level was made more difficult shortly before the break with Jackson being sent off for a poor challenge on Terrier.

The Werkself were impressive in their first-leg encounter at home to Arsenal, who topped the league phase. The Bundesliga side went ahead in the second half through Robert Andrich's header at a corner, but the English club were able to draw level at the death thanks to ex-Leverkusen youth product Kai Havertz's penalty.

Injury concerns

Bayern's trip to Bergamo came at a cost, though. Alphonso Davies went off with a hamstring strain in the same leg as his most recent injury. Musiala also left the field as a precaution with a complaint in the ankle he broke last summer. And Jonas Urbig had to be helped from the pitch with concussion. None are expected to feature this weekend.
