Big chance
Vušković gets up highest from a corner and wins the header, but his effort is straight at Vasilj, and the goalkeeper makes an important save. That's the closest we've come to a goal tonight.
53'
Almost a chance
Königsdörffer is fed through on the right, but Dźwigała manages to get back well and clear behind for a corner. The set-piece is then cleared as far as Vieira, and his effort deflects out for another corner.
49'
Good effort
Hamburg counter well from a St. Pauli corner. A cross from the left is then cleared out to Vušković. The young defender has a go, but his half-volley narrowly clears the crossbar.

Nie Wieder
Never again. On 27 January 1945, the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp was liberated. Since 2004, football matches around 27 January have become a symbol of remembrance for all of the people who were persecuted, deported and murdered under National Socialism.

Good opportunity
Downs has room to break with Vieira and Baldé alongside him. The forward then rolls the ball over to Baldé on the edge of the box. He cuts inside and shoots with his right, but the effort is tame and easy for Vasilj. That should have been more dangerous.

It wouldn't have counted
A deflection loops into the air in the box, and Downs gets there first, right in front of the goalkeeper. However, with so much of the goal to hit, he can only shoot straight at Vasilj. Luckily for the Hamburg striker, the flag is up, and his missed opportunity means very little.
34'
Hamburg growing into the game
The visitors have looked dangerous on the flanks in the last few minutes. A couple of crossing opportunities could have come to more.
31'
Almost
Pereira Lage whips in a great cross from the left that Pyrka almost gets on the end of, but he gets his jump wrong and doesn't really get much height on his leap.

Best effort so far
A long ball over the top finds Jatta. He dips inside and tries to curl the ball in with his left, but Vasilj gets across to tip the shot away. Downs nearly gets on the end of the rebound, but to no avail. The flag then goes up for offside, though it is unclear whether any potential goal would have counted or not. It would have been close.

Foul throw
Pyrka takes a throw-in on the right, but makes a mess of it and gives away a foul throw.

Pauli want a penalty
A ball bounces off the arm of Jatta after an aerial duel inside the Hamburg box, but the referee waves play on. Ball-to-hand is the decision, and VAR agrees. After the ball is cleared, Smith attempts a volley, but the effort is a poor one.

That earlier challenge on Rössing-Lelesiit has seemingly done some damage, and he can't continue. Baldé is on to replace him.

St. Pauli's home struggles
In contrast to most newly promoted sides, where the home ground has to become a fortress, St. Pauli have struggled to put points on the board at the Millerntor since their promotion in 2024. Instead, Pauli have been reliant on their away form. Last season, they earned 18 away points and only 14 at home. This season, Pauli have the second-worst home record in the league with just seven points. That being said, tonight's hosts have only played seven home games so far this season due to their game against RB Leipzig being cancelled during Matchday 16.
