STUTTGART WIN AGAIN!

What a massive result for Stuttgart. After nine matches without a win, they come back from 2-0 down to beat Gladbach. They're now just a point behind Hertha in the relegation play-off spot, with outright safety a further two points in the distance, with nine rounds of fixtures remaining.

Into the first of four added minutes in Stuttgart. Matarazzo has just introduced Förster and Coulibaly. Can the hosts see this one over the line?

RULED OUT!

Marmoush has the ball in the net, but it won't count. The Egypt international slides to his knees by the corner flag in celebration, unaware of the linesman's flag. No complaints about the decision once the penny drops, though.

COMEBACK O'CLOCK!

Stuttgart lead for the first time from 2-0 down! Sommer punches clear a Marmoush free-kick. Sosa collects and drives past Thuram, just keeping the ball in play to cut a pass back for Kalajdzic in the box. He has the time and space to control and pick his spot, before arrowing through four Gladbach shirts and beyond the keeper. What a goal that could turn out to be in the context of the relegation battle!

SO NEAR BUT OH SO FAR-MOUSH!

Stuttgart break at speed with Tomas. He goes past two Gladbach shirts, before shifting the ball into the path of Kalajdzic. The Austrian hangs up a cross for Marmoush, but he gets his attempted diving header all kinds of wrong. Lucky for him, the flag goes up for an offside against Kalajdzic.
74'

BLOCKED

Neuhaus fluffs his attempted clearance. Marmoush's eyes light up, but Neuhaus redeems himself with the recovery challenge, aided and abetted by Ginter.
71'

MÜLLER WITH THE STOP!

Now it's Gladbach's turn to attack. Bensebaini pulls away and crosses towards the near post for Neuhaus. He sells Anton down the river with a quick feint, before forcing Müller into a diving save with a fierce shot on the turn.
65'

WHAT A SAVE!

Oh, Stuttgart! Oh, Sommer! Sosa swings over another telling cross from the left. Kalajdzic heads it back across goal for Tomas, who is foiled at point-blank range by Sommer.

STUTTGART LEVEL!

Stuttgart with a dream start to the second half! Ginter only half clears Tomas' cross. Kalajdzic turns it goalwards, but Bensebaini gets in the way. The loose ball balloons to the left of the six-yard box, where Führich dives to head in the equaliser.

HALF-TIME! STUTTGART 1-2 GLADBACH

We expected goals, and the two teams have not disappointed on that front. Plea's goal and assist have Gladbach ahead, but Stuttgart can feel aggrieved to be behind at halfway. Pretty much sums up their season. Big half-time team talk ahead for Matarazzo...

STUTTGART HIT BACK!

It's not over yet, after all! Bensebaini makes a hash of clearing Sosa's cut-back. He only finds Endo, who lashes beyond Sommer to give Stuttgart a deserved lifeline.

GLADBACH ADD A SECOND

Make that a hand in six of eight! Plea shows quick feet to create space and drift a cross towards the far post, where Thuram slides in unchallenged to put Gladbach 2-0 up.

PLEA OF THE MOMENT

Plea's fifth goal of the season - perhaps is best yet - is all that separates the teams. The Frenchman has had a direct hand in five of Gladbach's last seven league goals.

PICK THAT OUT!

Gladbach forge ahead. Plea darts in off the left-hand side, laying the ball off for Neuhaus and continuing his run into the area. Borussia's February Plea of the Month meets the little dink over the top of the Stuttgart defence flush on the volley to leave Müller with no chance.

Tomas goes in the Gladbach box. He gets right behind his right-footed shot, driving low towards the far corner, but Sommer is down to make a sensational two-handed save. Steel-like wrists from the Gladbach and Switzerland No.1

STOP WAR

The two teams are out, blue and yellow along with the message 'Stop War' emblazoned across the players' training tops, in support of the people of Ukraine.

LEAKY DEFENCES

Goals could well be on the cards at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. The game is a meeting between the third and fourth leakiest defences in this season's Bundesliga. Stuttgart have shipped 45, Gladbach 48.

STUTTGART BETTER THAN THEIR POSITION SUGGESTS

At least that's what Gladbach head coach Adi Hütter believes. "Stuttgart might be second bottom, but they have a lot of potential left to explore and have also played better football than their current position in the table might suggest," he said. "It's important for us to pick up points in Stuttgart, in order for us to open up a bit of a gap. However, that won’t be an easy task."

MATARAZZO OPTIMISTIC

"I think we've seen good performances in recent weeks, and I'm very confident that we're going to stand up and be capable of winning again against Gladbach," Stuttgart's head coach told bundesliga.com at a media roundtable this week. "And I'm very, very sure as well that when we win we're going to start rolling. The guys are on board, we're working hard, we've enough quality on the team. So it's just about getting that first success in order to get the next one."

TABLE TALK

Stuttgart sit second bottom after a run of nine games without a win, seven defeats included. Luckily for them, Hertha Berlin - the team directly above them in the standings - lost 4-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt earlier. If VfB can break the winless cycle, the gap to the relegation play-off spot will be cut to a point. Gladbach, who are unbeaten in three of their last four, sit 13th.

MORE ON THOSE TEAMS

Stuttgart are without Pascal Stenzel, but Borna Sosa is available again at left-back. With Orel Mangala only fit enough for the bench after picking up a knock in the loss to Hoffenheim, Sasa Kalajdzic starts up front alongside Sporting Lisbon loanee Tiago Tomas. As for Gladbach, Joe Scally makes his first start of 2022, while Kouadio Kone comes into the midfield. Jordan Beyer and Stefan Lainer are suspended and injured respectively.
