DESERVED THREE POINTS FOR UNION

Rarely have Gladbach been so comfortably beaten this season after such a superb team performance from the home side. Every single player was perfect in their play, and a goal in either half reflected the result for them. For the visitors, a disappointing weekend which sees them concede their four-point lead at the top of the table.

ANDERSSON SEALS THE WIN!

A deserved goal for the striker. Gentner's superb through-ball to Ryerson took him into the box. The subsitute then played the ball across goal, seeing in deflect over Sommer from Ginter's foot and into the path of Andersson who duly headed home.

STILL ALL GLADBACH

It's been a few minutes since a Union player touched the ball in this game, but Gladbach just can't breakthrough the defensive wall in front of them.
79'

HERRMANN CURLS ONE WIDE

The winger has the ball on the left flank and beats Trimmel into the box as he is running away from goal. He goes to cross to the back post, but the ball curls past everyone and goes beyond the far post. That's as close as Gladbach have come to scoring in this second half.

15 TO GO...

Will the league leaders come unstuck in Berlin handing Union their fourth straight win, or will we see some late drama? Strap yourselves in, folks...
71'

UNION DEFENDING SUPERBLY

The ball is firmly in control of the away side here, but Union's defensive front is the really impressive thing. Gladbach are looking for any opening possible but even from deep in their own half the Union frontline is pressing them superbly and leaving no chance of a breakthrough. Something will have to change from Rose's side soon.
68'

ZAKARIA NOW DOWN

It looks like he'll be able to continue after taking a heavy blow to the chest from a challenge with Andersson, but the injury troubles don't seem to be going quiet for Gladbach.
59'

ELVEDI DOWN

It looks like the Swiss international is not going to be able to continue here for the Foals. Tobias Strobl is warming up on the bench.
57'

GLADBACH ALL OVER THE BALL

Since those early second half chances it's been Gladbach in control of the ball. But as usual, Union's well-structured defence is proving nearly impossible to break through. Lars Stindl is coming on to try and change that...
50'

ANDERSSON GOES CLOSE

Superb play from Ingvartsen there as he ran away from goal before backheeling the ball into the path of Andersson. The Swede fired a first-time shot at goal which Sommer was able to save and then pick up at the second attempt.
49'

UNION STARTING WELL

The home side are straight out of the blocks here in this second half. Gentner has a half-chance at the back post of the Gladbach goal, but his header is blocked and eventually cleared.

SECOND HALF BEGINS

No changes at the break with Gladbach looking to get bakc into this game sooner rather than later.

PLEA IN ONE-ON-ONE...

The Frenchman beats Subotic and races away at goal. Gikiewicz comes out to close the angle and does superbly, saving from Plea's effort on goal and forcing a corner.
33'

ANDERSSON HEADER...

The Sweden international heads towards goal from a looping corner, but Sommer is able to catch it with ease. Union producing all the chances right now, despite Gladbach having most of the possession.
26'

MIDFIELD BATTLE HERE

While Union are clearly looking to work the counter-attack, Gladbach are struggling to bring Plea and Thuram, in particular, into this game. Thuram is out wide of the left with Plea through the middle, but Union's three-man defence is perfectly keeping them in check.
21'

INGVARTSEN HITS THE POST!

Gladbach's defence not quite up to scratch here. Andersson's simple cross into the box is headed away by Kramer, but straight to Ingvartsen on the edge. He chests to control and fires a volley at the target, but it bounces once and then back out off the post with Sommer stranded. Cracking start to this game!
18'

FOALS REMAIN IN CONTROL

Despite going behind, Gladbach are the better side here so far. They've had most of the ball and have kept it for longer periods in the Union half. But with wing-backs powering forward and three attackers to work with, Union's counter-attacking potential is clear for all to see.
15'

UJAH HEADS UNION INTO THE LEAD!

The home side's defence breaks forward with Ingvartsen down the left wing behind the Gladbach defence. He looks up to find Andersson and Ujah in the middle, with Ujah at the back post all alone. The cross is perfectly-placed for him and the striker powers a header past Sommer.

HERRMANN HITS THE POST!

Biggest chance of the game so far and it comes for the away side again, and Herrmann. This time he's on the end of Plea's cross into the box from the left and heads the ball beyond Gikiewicz back across goal, but it bounces back out into play off the post. A stroke of luck for the home side.

BIG CHANCE FOR HERRMANN

Outstanding pass from Zakaria sends the ball across the pitch and beyond the Union defence to Herrmann on the edge of the Union box. As the ball is on its way, Gikiewicz comes into no-mans-land away from his goal. Herrmann doesn't spot it and doesn't lob the ball over him to take advantage.
7'

ZAKARIA GOES CLOSE

The ball can't be cleared by the home side's defence in their own box as it bounces between both sides. Eventually Zakaria is able to bring it down and shoot at goal from the edge of the box, but he drags his shot inches wide of the mark.
4'

HOME SIDE GO CLOSE

A corner drops into the near post of the Gladbach goal and is hit into the air. Zakaria heads it clear, but only as far as Ingvartsen who laces a left-footed shot at goal but it drags just wide of the mark.

RICH VEIN OF FORM FOR UNION

This will be no simple task for Gladbach, coming to what we have already seen to be one of the most difficult places for teams to play at away from home. Match the Föresterei fortress with the fact that Union have won three competitive games in a row for the first time under Urs Fischer and the home side can feel good about themselves.

Three of the table's top four teams are in action this afternoon, with the other playing this evening. Bayern and Freiburg are also away from home but not a million miles apart, with Bayern in Düsseldorf and Freiburg just down the road at Leverkusen.

FOALS BACK FROM INJURY

Tobias Sippel, Breel Embolo and Fabian Johnson are all back from injury to make a welcome return to the Gladbach squad. Marco Rose given a healthy boost of options from his bench for today's game. Embolo has scored three goals and assisted one in nine appearances so far this season.
