PERFECT START TO THE SEASON

Frankfurt start the 2019/20 campaign on winning terms thanks to Martin Hinteregger's goal after just 36 seconds as head coach Adi Hütter makes it three wins out of three against Hoffenheim, who had two goals ruled out for offside, but ultimately struggled in front of goal. Eintracht have won all six of their competitive fixtures this season - the only other time they've managed that feat was in the 1997/98 season when they were in the second tier.

NO REPEAT?

This fixture produced eight goals in two games last season. Haller and Paciencia both struck in the dying minutes to clinch a come-from-behind 3-2 win for Frankfurt at the Commerzbank Arena in 2018/19 - that was also a game that Eintracht led 1-0.

GOAL CHALKED OFF!

For the second time this afternoon, Hoffenheim have a goal correctly ruled out for offside. This time it's Belfodil who mistimes his run. A lovely chipped finish over Trapp, but it won't count.

LAST CHANCE SALOON

Hoffenheim want to throw the kitchen sink at Frankfurt, but just aren't getting the ball into dangerous enough areas against a Frankfurt backline sitting deep.
87'

HOW HAS HE MISSED?

They've barely had a sniff of goal in the second half, but Hoffenheim should be level. Belfodil popped up unmarked in the box to meet a cross with his head only to mistime the effort which bounces harmlessly wide off his shoulder instead.
82'

TAME TSG

Hoffenheim have only had one shot on goal in the second half - Skov's free-kick in the 58th minute - which just isn't enough to warrant taking a share of the spoils in Frankfurt.
77'

FINAL PASS WOES

Frankfurt break from a Hoffenheim corner, but after using his pace to burst clear, Kostic fails to produce the pass to pick out Gacinovic. He played it a few seconds too early.
77'

A WARRIOR

A worrying moment for Frankfurt as goalscorer Martin Hinteregger stays down after sliding in for a tackle. It looked like a muscle strain, but it will take more than that to keep Hinti down. Some ice spray and treatment and he's back on the field of play.
75'

TIME IS RUNNING OUT

Hoffenheim have just 15 minutes left to conjour something out of nothing really. They've really sturggled to assert themselves in the final third and haven't done enough to warrant getting themselves on the scoresheet. All they need is one chance though.
72'

SUPER SUB?

Paciencia scored an injury-time winner the last time Frankfurt welcomed Hoffenheim to the Commerzbank Arena. He's come on in slightly different circumstances today, but he'll still be hungry to score.
69'

NOT FALLING FOR FILIP

Kostic has really done everything but score this afternoon as his latest effort fails to find the target from 10 yards out. He's picked up where he left off last season and has been one of Frankfurt's most impressive performers today.
65'

1ST SUB FOR FRANKFURT

Rode was one of four players to make his loan deal permanent at Frankfurt along with Trapp, Hinteregger and Kostic. Today he's off the bench to provide defensive reinforcements.
62'

BUNDESLIGA DEBUT!

New recruit Diadie Samassekou comes off the bench for Hoffenheim three days after joining the club from RB Salzburg. He's known more for his defensive duties that his attacking play so Geiger should shift further forward.
62'

A FRANKFURT SECOND?

At the other end, Frankfurt have forced Baumann into six saves in his 300th Bundesliga appearance. A 1-0 loss is hardly the way to celebrate a milestone!
59'

FIRST SHOT ON TARGET!

Free-kick for Hoffenheim which has Skov's name written all over it. The 29-goal man in Denmark's top flight get his effort up and over the wall, but it's comfortably dealth with by Trapp who saw it the whole way. Finally a shot on target for Hoffenheim, it only took 59 minutes!
56'

OFF THE LINE!

Kohr goes close again. A free-kick from Kamada picks out the midfielder at the back post and in trying to head the ball across goal almost grabs a goal himself with Posch forced to clear off the line after the ball had looped over Baumann.
51'

BAUMANN AGAIN!

Hoffenheim's No1 is keeping his side in the game at the start of the second half. His second save of the half is relatively comfortable as Kohr's header from Kamada's corner lacked the power and pace to cause problems.
49'

GREAT CHANCE!

Kamada weaves his way towards goal and gets a strong shot off which Baumann does brilliantly to get a hand to low to his right. Frankfurt in transition are so dangerous and so much fun to watch.
48'

NEW BOYS STRUGGLING

Hoffenheim summer signings Skov and Bebou have only had one shot on goal between them thus far. With Szalai and Belfodil on the bench, it will be interesting to see how long Schreuder gives them on their Bundesliga debuts for the club.

KOSTIC ON FIRE

Filip Kostic was involved in five shots on goal in the first half, setting up three including the assist for Hinteregger's goal and having two efforts himself. He's been too hot to handle.

NEW CLUB RECORD

Martin Hinteregger's goal after 36 seconds was the fastest ever conceded by Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.

HALF TIME

Both sides carved out their fair share of chances in an engaging first half and there's no doubt there are more goals in this game. However, Frankfurt have looked more dangerous and refined in the final third compared to Hoffenheim, who are still yet to register a shot on target with Geiger's goal disallowed.

45'

STINGS THE PALMS

Rebic chances his arm from a 25-yard free-kick and calls Baumann into action again with an effort that moved in the air.
45'

GOAL DISALLOWED

Hoffenheim's first shot on target finds the back of the net, but is ruled out. Dennis Geiger takes a corner short to play a one-two with Zuber and, after being teed up on the edge of the area, curls a ball beyond Trapp. However, Bebou was in an offside position and in Trapp's line of sight when the shot was taken and after reviwing the footage, referee Daniel Siebert correctly disallows the goal.

SHOULD HAVE BEEN TWO

What a chance! Frankfurt should be two goals to the good. Kostic pounces on a loose ball to sprint clear of Posch, angles his run towards goal and, with Rebic and Kamada marked in the middle, goes for goal himself from a tight angle. He was trying to put it through Baumann's legs, but Hoffenheim's No1 stood his ground well.
36'

ANOTHER CHANCE!

Kaderabek picks out an unmarked Zuber in acres of space in the Frankfurt box. The Swiss international opts for a first-time volley which is blocked by the onrushing Abraham.
34'

NO INCHES BEING GIVEN

The pace of proceedings has dropped in the last five minutes after a frantic opening half an hour. Both sides have had six shots on goal apiece, but Frankfurt are still posing the great threat.
30'

HOFFENHEIM EYEING EQUALISER

Geiger's corner picks out Stefan Posch whose header fails to make it through all the bodies in the box. The next goal in this one is going to be pivotal.
29'

A WHISKER WIDE

What were we saying about Filip Kostic. In response to Skov's chance, Frankfurt's wing wizard lines up an effort from 30 yards on the angle and fizzes a shot just wide of the far post. Baumann would have been beaten.
27'

SKOV'S FIRST SHOT

A powerful run from Zuber allows the left wing-back to pick out Robert Skov with a square ball. The Danish international snatches at the effort with a first-time effort that fails to draw a save out of Trapp. Still no shots on target for 1899.
24'

TURBO KOSTIC

Filip Kostic, wow! The Serbian winger turns on the afterburners on the left wing and breezes past Sebastian Rudy and Stefan Posch. Fortunately for Hoffenheim, Posch manages to recover his position to make a crucial challenge inside his own area. Kostic is really up for it this afternoon - he's already set up three goalscoring chances.
20'

NO CUTTING EDGE

With 20 minutes played, Hoffenheim have had 59 per cent possession and misplaced just 16 per cent of their passes, but they are still yet to have a shot on target, while Frankfurt have already tested Oliver Baumann three times.
17'

TEETHING ISSUES?

Hoffenheim have found their feet again after being rocked by conceding in the opening minute. Their new-look frontline has a lot of promise, but hasn't kicked into gear yet despite Rupp, Bebou and Skov looking lively.
14'

RUUUPPPP!

For the first time this afternoon, Hoffenheim go close to getting themselves on the scoresheet as Lukas Rupp drags an effort wide from the edge of the area.
12'

HINTI'S SPECIALTY

The Austrian centre-back signed permanently from Augsburg after impressing on loan in the second half of the season with Frankfurt, has a knack for opening the scoring. Five of his seven Bundesliga goal to date have broken the deadlock.
12'

5 SECONDS DIFFERENCE

Martin Hinteregger's goal won't go down as the fastest of the weekend, that honour still befalls Augsburg's Florian Niederlechner who opened the scoring against Dortmund after 31 seconds. Hinti needed 36.
9'

FRANKFURT'S FRONTLINE

Questions were asked of how Frankfurt's frontline would shape up without Sebastien Haller and Luka Jovic, but the Eagles don't seem to have lost any of their fluidity up front. Kamada, Rebic and Gacinovic are all dovetailing nicely in the final third.
6'

SCHREUDER'S GAMEPLAN

Alfred Schreuder has set Hoffenheim up in a 3-4-3 formation on the ball and 5-2-3 off the ball. The problem is Kostic is already finding a lot of space in behind Kaderabek, which is causing 1899 problems.
3'

HOFFENHEIM UNDER PRESSURE

The visitors have barely had a chance to catch their breathe in the opening exchanges with Frankfurt piling forward. Alfred Schreuder's side look shell shocked.
3'

WHAT A START!

Well that didn't take long as Eintracht Frankfurt score inside a minute! A corner won by Filip Kostic is taken short and, with Hoffenheim's defenders tracking runs in the box, Martin Hinteregger found a pocket of space to volley home the opening goal. That's why Frankfurt worked so hard to make his move permanent.
Kick-off!

GOALS, GOALS, GOALS

Gladbach's goalless clash with Schalke bucked the trend, but the opening Matchday in the Bundesliga has delivered entertainment aplenty with the seven games thus far averaging over three goals a game. Hoffenheim and Frankfurt were two of the most ambitious attacking sides last season and the summer months aren't likely to have changed that. Goals are in the air!

"THE BUNDESLIGA AIR IS DIFFERENT"

Adi Hütter and Eintracht are already five games into their season, but the Eagles' head coach is looking forward to getting back to the bread and butter of the Bundesliga. "I think all Bundesliga coaches are looking forward to the start of the new season, so am I, of course. We've done very well in the competitive games we've had so far, with some wins but from tomorrow, yes, it'll be a different wind that blows. The Bundesliga air is of course something quite different, so with the home game against Hoffenheim we can get off to a good start."

KOSTICS FAVOURITE OPPONENTS

Frankfurt's Filip Kostic has scored four goals against Hoffenheim in his Bundesliga career to date - more than against any other side side currently in the top flight. Can he add another this afternoon?

SCHREUDERS 1ST BUNDESLIGA RODEO

Alfred Schreuder was the assistant coach at Hoffenheim between 2015 and 2018, today he takes charge of his first Bundesliga game as the 1899 head coach. Filling Julian Nagelsmann's shoes won't be easy, but his first priority is the trip to Frankfurt: “Like last year, I think they’re a very good team with a very good coach, who did a super job last year. I think they have an advantage in that they’ve already played in a few important matches together already."

SAMASSEKOU DEBUT?

Hoffenheim's seventh signing of the summer Diadie Samassekou could make his Bundesliga debut off the bench against Frankfurt. The 23-year-old Mali international joined from serial Austrian champions RB Salzburg on a five-year deal and is raring to go: “I’m really happy to be here. It’s my first year and I’m already looking forward to being a part of this team. I heard a lot about this team, I know how players improve here and I didn’t need long to decide on accepting to come here.”

PACIENCIA AND JOVELJIC ON THE BENCH

The first look at Frankfurt without Luka Jovic and Sebastien Haller, who scored 47 Bundesliga goals between them last season, sees Daichi Kamada partner Ante Rebic up front. As a result Goncalo Paciencia and summer signing Dejan Joveljic will have to wait in the wings for a chance off the bench.

FRANKFURT LINE-UP!

Trapp - Hinteregger, Hasebe, Abraham - Da Costa, Fernandes, Kohr, Kostic - Gacinovic - Kamada, Rebic

EMBRACING THE GRIND

Repeating their heroics from last season's marathon 50-game campaign won't be easy for Eintracht Frankfurt. Head coach Adi Hütter's frank assessment: "The question now is - where do we go from here?". A positive result on home soil against fellow European hopefuls Hoffenheim could begin answering that question.

TRAPP OPTIMISTIC

After a successful loan spell with Frankfurt last season, Kevin Trapp made the move from Paris Saint-Germain permanent by penning a five-year deal with the Eagles. "First of all, it obviously feels good the club has the confidence to offer such a long contract. I think it's just the right sign that the club is on the right path in terms of the last four or five years and if that happens again over the next five years then we'll all be happy about it."

HAPPY TRAVELLERS

Compare that with Hoffenheim's record of four wins in Frankfurt and the fact they scored in every single one of their away games last season, and we could be in for a treat this afternoon.

HAPPY STARTERS AT HOME

Records are there to be broken – look at Bayern Munich's draw with Hertha Berlin, which ended a run of seven straight opening-day wins for the Bavarians – but Frankfurt will be somewhat buoyed by their record of three wins from three when they have started the season at home in recent years. Their last opening-day defeat on home soil came 11 years ago, when they went down to Hertha Berlin.

EXPECTING SKOV

Hoffenheim got their man to replace the departing Joelinton in good time this summer, with the Danish league's top-scorer from last season Robert Skov signed from FC Copenhagen. The expectations in the 23-year-old forward are high and he is in line to make his Bundesliga debut this afternoon.

AWAITING DOST

Frankfurt head into this afternoon's opening-day fixture with Ante Rebic, Goncalo Paciencia and Dejan Joveljic set to lead the line, but beyond those three names, coach Adi Hütter is lacking alternatives following the departures of Sebastien Haller and Luka Jovic this summer. That should change tomorrow, though, when former Wolfsburg forward Bas Dost is expected to sign for the Eagles from Sporting Lisbon. Unfortunately for Hütter, Frankfurt were unable to push that transfer through in time for today's game, but his impending arrival will surely serve as additional motivation for the front three, knowing their place is now on the line.
