Thanks for your company!

Have you caught your breath back yet?! What a game that was, and what a twist in the title race. Next week it's Augsburg away for BVB, while Bayern travel to Borussia Mönchengladbach. That looks a tasty weekend indeed. Join us tomorrow for more live text coverage of Leipzig against Hoffenheim, but it's bye for now!

Disappointment for Bayer

It's a poor result in the circumstances for Leverkusen, whose run of four wins comes to an end and who miss the chance to disturb the European spots, as they remain seventh in the table.

A HUGE win for Dortmund!

The Black and Yellows knew they had to win this game and they've done just that to re-establish their three-point lead over Bayern at the top of the table. They were not at their best but they're back to winning ways and that's all that matters.

Chance to seal it!

Leverkusen's defence are looking fatigued and they may not surviva another scare like this. Alcacer bulldozes his way through two defenders and the ball breaks to Sancho. The teenager looks up and crosses to Jacob Bruun Larsen, but the Dane's finish was always rising. This game remains in the balance!

Götze off, Dahoud on

Götze's race is run. Favre will be looking to Mahmood Dahoud to help see out this result.
77'

Sancho needs treatment

Play stops as the referee attends to Sancho, who's left in a heap after being caught in a sandwich between two Leverkusen defenders.
75'

Tah reduces the arrears!

Now we'll see what this Dortmund side are made of, as Tah finds the back of the net to make it 3-2! It was a powerful header from the young defender, who met Brandt's perfectly weighted cross with a clean connection that Bürki could only get half a hand to. We're in for a grandstand finish here!

Jonathan Tah

GOAL!

3:2
Jonathan Tah
71'

Almost an instant impact!

Alario goes close to scoring with what mustbe his first touch, forcing Bürki into a sharp reflex save from close range.
69'

Bailey off, Alario on

Jamaican winger Bailey has been a key outlet for Leverkusen today so it might come as a slight surprise that he's withdrawn. Leverkusen now have two recognised strikers on in Lucas Alario and Volland.
63'

Goal disallowed!

Dortmund think they have a fourth goal as Alcacer latches onto Diallo's pass, rounds the 'keeper and slots home, but the flag is up for offiside and a VAR check confirms it. That was a shame for the Spaniard, who hasn't scored since the 2-1 defeat at Düsseldorf in December.
60'

BVB have a two-goal cushion!

It's a little unfortunate for Bayer but Dortmund won't care! Hakimi's rather waek cross is deflected across the edge of the box and falls the way of Götze, who sends a controlled finish low into the corner past Hradecky! Are BVB going three points clear again? It looks that way!

Mario Götze

GOAL!

3:1
Mario Götze
52'

Chance of a break...

...as Sancho carries the ball forward and finds Götze, but the Germany international is held up and eventually dispossessed by Tah. This half has started somewhat scrappily, though both sides are continuing to try to keep the ball on the deck.

BVB close to a third!

Incredibly Lucien Favre's side could be two goals in front! Götze capitalises on an error at the back for Leverkusen and drives forward. He's held up but the ball breaks for Alcacer, who can only shoot over for the second time this half.

Back underway!

Dortmund get us going again for the second half!
45'

Sancho the scourge of Leverkusen

How's this for a stat: in three appearances against Bayer, Sancho has been involved in seven goals (scored three, assisted four).
45'

Three goals in ten minutes....

...and this game is bubbling nicely! Leverkusen don't deserve to be behind, but they'll need to defend better if they want to get back into this game. Join us shortly for what should be a fantastic second half!
39'

Sancho!

This is extraordinary! Dortmund have re-taken the lead, barely a minute after conceding the equaliser, as Sancho guides a beautifully struck volley into the corner from Abdou Diallo's cross. Bosz must be tearing his hair out on the touchline... in a figurative sense, of course.
38'

Jadon Sancho

GOAL!

2:1
Jadon Sancho
37'

Leverkusen level!

And how do they deserve it! The Bayer skipper Kevin Volland has been quiet today but this is a very clever finish, as he side-steps a challenge on the edge of the area and fires through a defender's legs, with the ball creeping inside Roman Bürki's near post.

Zagadou do do!

Dortmund have woken up it seems, as Zagadou steals in to open the scoring from close range from Sancho's corner! It's a poor goal to concede for the Werkself, who haven't really been under any sustained pressure, but that goal has livened up the crowd. Can BVB go up a gear from here?
30'
Dan-Axel Zagadou
27'

BVB threaten!

Paco Alcacer and Mario Götze have been largely anonymous so far, but Sancho has Dortmund's first shot with a low effort that's collected by Lukas Hradecky. Julian Weigl then takes the Englishman's knockdown and is denied by a last-ditch challenge from Jonathan Tah. Have BVB awoken up from their slumber?
23'

Bayer getting closer!

Peter Bosz's men are on top here, no question. There's a spring in their step and they're winning the ball nack quickly and attacking directly. Bailey's cross is headed out to the edge of the area, where Havertz guides a half-volley just wide of the post.
20'

Sven Bender!

So close to the opening goal after some mesmeric passig from Leverkusen. Brandt is involved again as he dances his way into the box and lays off the ball to Sven Bender, the former BVB man shooting wide with the aid of a deflection. The corner comes to nothing, but Bayer are turning the screw here.
15'

Zagadou living dangerously

Dortmund don't much look like a side top of the league right now, as Dan-Axel Zagadou slices a horrible clearance behind for a corner. Bailey takes it but it's wasted.
11'

Bailey causing trouble

The visitors are snapping into every challenge and not letting Dortmund settle at all. Julian Brandt wins the ball back and breaks into the box, where Leon Bailey's flat cross almost reaches him. Borussia scramble it clear but they don't look secure at the back in the opening stages here.
7'

First run from Sancho

Jadon Sancho collects the ball in his own half and embarks on a driving run through midfield, forcing it out wide to Raphael Guerreiro, whose first-time cross is cleared. There's a good tempo to proceedings here.
3'

First shot in anger!

We've had the first effort of the game and it comes from Leverkusen. Mitchell Weiser feeds Kai Havertz and the in-form midfielder checks onto his left foot before curling over the bar from an angle. A lively start here.
Kick-off!

Away we go!

And we're off and running for Sunday's top-billed affair. Dortmund start the game top of the league but on goal difference only - can they re-establish a three-point cushion at the summit? Let's find out!

LEVERKUSEN PLAYING IT SAFE?

Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz, who was in charge at Dortmund at the start of last season, has made one tactical change compared to last week, opting for an extra holding midfielder in Julian Baumgartlinger alongside Charles Aranguiz. Against Düsseldorf last time out, Bayer began with an additional attacker in Karim Bellarabi.

HOW DORTMUND HAVE MISSED AKANJI

BVB have conceded 12 goals in their last eight competitive outings without Akanji, and only kept a clean sheet twice. His return here is timely as Dortmund look to keep out a free-scoring Leverkusen side and restore their advantage at the top of the standings.

DORTMUND TEAM NEWS

While key players Marco Reus and Lukasz Piszczek remain sidelined, the big news for the hosts today is the return of centre-back Manuel Akanji to the starting line-up. The 23-year-old has not played since Matchday 16 last year due to injury. Elsewhere, Thomas Delaney is rested, so Julian Weigl - who has filled in for Akanji in defence recently - returns to his natural position in central midfield.
