Schalke confirm the signing of Adil Aouchiche from Sunderland
Schalke have confirmed the permanent signing of Adil Aouchiche from English Premier League outfit Sunderland.
Aouchiche, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Scottish side Aberdeen, has joined on a permanent deal from Sunderland by putting pen-to-paper on a deal that runs until Summer 2027.
Upon the announcement, Schalke director of professional football Youri Mulder said of his new No.24: “Adil fits our playing philosophy perfectly with his intensity and game intelligence. As a box-to-box player, he’ll be an exciting option for us, with his physicality, high work rate and sharp acceleration over the first few yards.”
Mulder went on to explain: "Adil reads the game well, is constantly available for the ball and isn’t afraid to play a risky pass. We’re really pleased to have him on board.”
For his part, Aouchiche said: “When the call came, I was really pleased and excited about the chance to join Schalke. We’ve got big plans, and I want to play my part in making sure we have a successful second half of the season. I want to show that in every training session.”
Aouchiche, who came through Paris Saint-Germain's youth system, scored three times in 20 Scottish Premiership fixtures earlier this term. For Sunderland, he found the back of the net twice in 38 total outings.
A France youth international, he could make his debut for Schalke as early as this Saturday when they host Dynamo Dresden. He is the club's fourth signing of the transfer window, following Edin Džeko, Dejan Ljubicic and Kevin Müller.
