Fortuna Düsseldorf head of sport Sven Mislintat backs coach Markus Anfang
Fortuna Düsseldorf head of sport Sven Mislintat believes the club are moving in the right direction under head coach Markus Anfang following a difficult first half of the 2025/26 Bundesliga 2 season.
Former Düsseldorf midfielder Anfang succeeded Daniel Thioune in October and has won two of his nine matches in charge, drawing two and losing five, with Fortuna currently occupying the relegation play-off spot after 17 rounds of fixtures.
Mislintat, who joined the club just a fortnight ago, said before the year-ending win over Greuther Fürth: “The performances of the last few games, the work on and off the training pitch and the discussions have shown that we are on the right path together to get out of this difficult phase.”

Fortuna restart the season at home to Arminia Bielefeld on Friday 16 January (kick-off: 6.30pm CET). They're two points clear of the automatic relegation zone, outside outright safety on goal difference alone.
The win against Fürth was part of the innovative 'Fortuna For All' initiative, which offers fans free tickets to a select number of home games in Düsseldorf.
