Full-time: Bochum 1-1 Hannover

Bochum and Hannover share the spoils in a draw. Hannover enjoyed the greater share of possession, but struggled for a long time to break down the compact Bochum defence. Bochum remained dangerous primarily through transitions on the counter. After the break, the match opened up considerably. Nawrocki put Hannover in front, but Alfa-Ruprecht responded almost immediately with a stunning equaliser. After that, both sides pushed for the winner without managing to score the decisive goal.

Efficient Bochum

Just one shot on goal for the hosts in the second half, but it was enough to equalise.

Massive chance for Hannover! Nawrocki appears completely unmarked at the far post and gets a shot away. Horn, however, makes a strong save and prevents the second goal.

Half-time: Bochum 0-0 Hannover

VfL Bochum and Hannover 96 have so far played an intense but chance-poor match. Hannover have had more possession but have barely found any solutions going forward against the compact Bochum defence. The hosts have repeatedly posed a threat on the counter-attack – most notably through the impressive Kwarteng. Overall, Bochum look somewhat more dangerous despite having less possession.

Hannover relies on long balls

The visitors are now more frequently trying their luck with direct long balls forward. However, these passes are difficult for the strikers to bring under control.
44'

Bochum create the more dangerous moments

There continue to be only a few genuine penalty area situations on either side. When danger does arise, it is mostly through Bochum – particularly via the impressive Kwarteng.

Bochum become more active

For the hosts, a lot of the attacking play runs down the left flank with Olsen and Kwarteng. Bochum are now also pressing higher up the pitch and have, for the first time, enjoyed a longer spell of possession.
35'

Titz looks for solutions

Hannover continue to look somewhat lacking in ideas in their attacking play. Head coach Titz is now in intense conversation with his captain, possibly looking to make tactical adjustments.
32'

Bundu sends in a dangerous cross

Bundu makes a strong run down the left flank and plays the ball low through the penalty area. However, the cross flies past everyone and goes out for a goal kick.

28'

Bochum finding ways forward

Hannover may be the best away side in the league, but have not really been able to show that so far. Bochum are now repeatedly getting into dangerous transition situations via long balls and quick counter-attacks.
24'

Bundu wastes a good free-kick opportunity

Hannover earn a promising free-kick position centrally in front of the penalty area. Bundu does lift the ball over the wall, but also well over Horn's goal.

13'

Pannewig requires treatment

After a challenge just outside the penalty area, Pannewig stays down. The Bochum player requires medical attention.
11'

Bochum keep things tight

Hannover have found no gaps in the final third so far. The hosts are strong in man-marking and are allowing hardly any dangerous play.
8'

Lots of play in midfield

The match has so far been played predominantly in midfield. Bochum continue to defend more aggressively only in their own half, keeping the spaces in front of it compact.
5'

Kwarteng tries his luck from distance

Bochum have their first shot of the match. Kwarteng lets fly from range, but places the ball too centrally at Noll.
3'

Hannover with a calm start

Uwe Rösler on facing Hannover:

Spectacle

Hannover's last away win at Castroper Straße was memorable. On 8 May 2010, the final matchday of the 2009/10 Bundesliga season, Hannover won what was ultimately a relegation-decider 3-0. They stayed up, while Bochum were relegated.

Record in favour of Bochum?

In the 15 meetings between the two clubs in Bundesliga 2, the away side have never won. In Bochum, alongside two draws, this game's hosts have claimed five home wins (most recently a 4-3 goal fest in April 2021).
