Half-time: Nuremberg 0-2 Hamburg
The visitors go into the break with a thoroughly deserved 2-0 lead. Double goalscorer Dompé was near-unstoppable in the first half and had six shots on goal in addition to his two strikes. Nuremberg, on the other hand, played with a man down from the 16th minute after a red card for Antiste and struggled ever since. A comeback looks unlikely.

Kick-off!
Will Königsdörffer continue his form?
Davie Selke is out, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer comes into the team as a replacement rather than Robert Glatzel. Königsdörffer also started in the last away match in Magdeburg for the then suspended Selke, putting in a stellar performance (brace, forced an own goal, hit the woodwork twice) and led HSV to a clear away victory.
Poręba starts
In the last two months, Lukasz Poręba hasn't had a single minute of playing time. He was last substituted on at the beginning of February against Hannover, and he has only started twice this season, most recently in November against Schalke. Now, thanks to Meffert's injury, his time has come.
Schonlau can make his case
The captain had recently lost his place in the team, being on the bench for the last five matches. The shoulder injury to Denis Hadzikadunic now brings Schonlau back into the starting side for the first time since the 1-1 draw in Regensburg two months ago.
Fresh defence
Nick Seidel (20 years old) and Fabio Gruber (22) move into the team for Knoche and Drexler. Seidel has started just three times, most recently impressing in the 1-0 victory in Münster on Matchday 25. For winter signing Gruber (who came from Verl as Finn Jeltsch's replacement), this is full debut after two substitute appearances. Despite his young age, Gruber was already captain at third division surprise package Verl.
Three key players missing on each side
The hosts must do without the suspended Jens Castrop and the injured Robin Knoche and Tim Drexler, while HSV are also missing three key performers in Jonas Meffert, Denis Hadzikadunic and top scorer Davie Selke.

Merlin Polzin on facing Nuremberg
"Nuremberg's footballing approach is very interesting, which makes it particularly challenging for us in terms of pressing. Jander, Justvan and Tzimas repeatedly find spaces, they convey a lot of joy in their play. Therefore, we need to be ice-cold when opportunities arise. We are well prepared for that."
Miroslav Klose on facing HSV
"We have our match plan. We mustn't give HSV too much possession, as they can do a lot with it. We also need to make the opponent run hard."
Hamburg strikers enjoy scoring against the Club
Robert Glatzel has scored eight times in his nine Bundesliga 2 matches against Nuremberg – more than against any other team in the second tier. Davie Selke, meanwhile, has netted three goals in Bundesliga 2 matches versus the same opponents.
Fond memories of three years ago
The 2-1 victory on 5 March 2022 was also Nuremberg's only three points in their last nine home matches against Hamburg. HSV, meanwhile, have won the last two encounters at the Max-Morlock-Stadion - 2-0 each time.
Hamburg favourites
HSV have collected 13 points in their last five matches against Nuremberg and have lost only one of their last 16 competitive fixtures against them (10 wins, five draws).
Classic rivalry
These two clubs, who have won the German championship 15 times between them, have met 90 times in competitive matches, including 64 times in the Bundesliga. Hamburg have a clear lead in the head-to-head record (45 wins, while Nuremberg have won 23 times).
