Full-time: Kaiserslautern 0-0 Hannover
This hard-fought clash ends without goals and without a winner. Despite 22 shots on goal, Hannover failed to put the ball in the net and squandered several big chances. The visitors were better for long stretches, especially in the second half, even though Kaiserslautern missed out on victory in stoppage time. With 39 points, the 'Red Devils' jump to a promotion spot early, while for Hannover it's a fourth draw in a row.

Schmidt waiting in wings
Winter signing Kenneth Schmidt, who arrived from Freiburg after making 10 Bundesliga appearances this season, is included in Hannover's matchday squad for the first time but must make do with a place on the bench.
Gindorf for Rochelt
There's also a change for the visitors: Jannik Rochelt, who scored last week in the 1-1 draw against Düsseldorf, is not in the squad and Lars Gindorf starts in his place. For Gindorf, this is his first start in the 2024/25 season after 11 appearances as a substitute.
Breithaupt starts
Markus Anfang makes one change from last week's win in Berlin. New signing Tim Breithaupt starts for the first time, with Leon Robinson making way. The last time Breithaupt started a match was on 1 September 2024 for Augsburg in their 4-0 Bundesliga defeat at Heidenheim.

André Breitenreiter on facing Lautern
"Kaiserslautern is something of the team of the moment. We're in for a tough battle, but we've also shown that we're in good form. Recently, we've often been the better side, but we haven't picked up enough points."
Markus Anfang on facing Hannover
"In the previous meeting, the first half wasn't as we had imagined. The second half was better, even though we lost in the end. Since then, Hannover have made changes to their squad and managerial position. They are a team that makes many deep runs in behind. We need to manage to take the depth out of their play."
Reunion on the cards
Boris Tomiak moved to Hannover in January after three-and-a-half years and 126 competitive matches for Kaiserslautern (18 goals). In his current employers 3-1 home victory against Kaiserslautern last season, he was the match-winner with two converted penalties (his only brace in Bundesliga 2).
Historic inspiration
Hannover celebrated their most significant victory against Kaiserslautern on 23 May 1954 in front of 76,000 spectators at Hamburg's Volksparkstadion. Despite falling behind, the Reds won 5-1 under manager Helmut 'Fiffi' Kronsbein to become German champions for the second and, to date, last time. Many Red Devils players, such as the Walter brothers, went on to become World Cup winners a few weeks later.
Strong at home against Hannover
Kaiserslautern lost at Hannover 3-1 earlier this season, but have won their last two home games against the Lower Saxony side (3-1 and 2-1). Hannover's last away victory at the Betzenberg, meanwhile, was nearly nine years ago (4-0 in August 2016).
