Fortuna Düsseldorf 2-1 Paderborn

Paderborn failed to back up their opening 5-0 win as Düsseldorf maintained their 100 per cent start after two games. All the goals at the Merkur Spielarena came in the first half hour, with Dawid Kownacki opening the scoring after just two minutes. Paderborn levelled through Felix Platte before Fortuna legend Rouwen Hennings restored the advantage. The hosts held on despite heavy Paderborn pressure in the second half as they lay down an early-season marker for promotion.

Darmstadt 2-1 Sandhausen

Darmstadt recovered from their opening defeat to Regensburg by claiming all three points at home to Sandhausen, who had got the better of relegated Arminia Bielefeld on Matchday 1. Braydon Manu got the scoring going after just nine minutes before Aleksandr Zhirov’s response for the visitors. Marvin Mehlem put the Lilies back in front early in the second half, with Sandhausen unable to muster up another reply as Darmstadt held on for the victory.

Nuremberg 2-0 Greuther Fürth

The hosts bounced back from an opening-day defeat against St Pauli to take the derby spoils against neighbours Fürth. Nuremberg enjoyed a bright start to the game, hitting the woodwork before pressing ahead on the quarter hour, Christoph Daferner stroking home from close range. Fürth grew in confidence after the restart but their good work was undone following some solid play by home substitutes Erik Wekesser and Taylan Duman to set up fellow replacement Manuel Wintzheimer who netted a late second.

Recently promoted 'Slautern picked up a last gasp victory on their return to the second tier against Hannover last week and the visitors were soon surprising Kiel on Matchday 2 by taking the lead in the first half. Daniel Hanslik was quickest on the follow up to fire Dirk Schuster's men in front after 33 minutes. Kaiserslautern's failure to deal with successive set-pieces allowed Kiel to snatch the lead with Fabian Reese taking full advantage on both occasions. The away side didn't drop their heads and when Terrence Boyd combined well with Jean Zimmer, the former USMNT international finished on the spin to earn the The Red Devils a point.

Frank Schmidt's hosts can boast a 100% start to the season after inflicting a second straight loss on their promoted opponents, Braunschweig. The visitors endured an unhappy start when Philipp Strompf shinned Marnon Busch's cross into his own net. Heidenheim withstood a spirited fightback from their opponents before Tim Kleindienst nodded in from close range to put daylight between the teams. Kevin Sessa made sure of the spoils when adding the finishing touch to a late counter attack.
