Watch: Top 5 goals from Matchday 6

camera-photo

Full time: Kaiserslautern 4-1 Preußen Münster

Deserved victory for Lautern, who showed themselves to be extremely efficient and had the match wrapped up before the break. In the second half, Preußen showed a different face, but Prtaijn sealed the deal with his third goal. With this win, the Red Devils are at the top of the table, at least for one night.

But it's not enough to test Krahl, who securely gathers the attempt.

The match is decided

Not much is happening at the moment. Preußen Münster are trying to limit the damage, while Lautern are doing the bare minimum in attack.

Efficient "Red Devils"

The hosts are showing themselves to be particularly effective today. All four shots on Preußen keeper Schenk's goal have gone in.

Vilhelmsson pushes Sirch into his own keeper and Krahl hits his teammate with his knee. Fortunately, Sirch is back on his feet after brief treatment.

Triple substitution

Fresh legs should make a difference for Preußen in the remaining 20 minutes.

Tactical foul

Kunze holds onto his opponent in midfield and receives a yellow card.

The decisive moment?

Hat-trick for Prtaijn! The visitors fail to clear a corner properly and Joly heads the ball back towards the goal. Prtaijn stands completely unmarked in front of Schenk and smashes the ball into the roof of the net.

Not far off!

Prtaijn goes down easily in the penalty area, but the whistle rightly stays silent. Then things move quickly at the other end. Lokotsch sends Vilhelmsson on his way and the Swede narrowly misses the far post with his effort from the left side of the area.

Another booking

Gyamfi kicks the ball away after a free kick is awarded. Unnecessary yellow card.

That should have been 1-3!

Almost a lightning start for Preußen! Lokotsch finds himself free in the penalty area in front of Krahl. The 'keeper saves before Kim clears the rebound off the line in the nick of time.

We're back underway!

The ball is rolling again at the Betzenberg! For the visitors from Münster, Vilhelmsson is on in place of Amenyido.

Attack-minded Lautern

Three goals against Darmstadt, three goals in Fürth, three again today - Prtaijn and Co. are in a goal-scoring mood against sluggish Preußen.
camera-photo

Half-time at the Betzenberg

The Kaiserslautern players are sent off to the dressing room with a standing ovation. They put the visitors from Münster under pressure from the start and were also extremely efficient, with all three shots on goal finding the back of the net. Especially in the air, Preußen have had no answer to them so far.

Is it already over for Preußen?

Münster's coach Alexander Ende certainly would have imagined his birthday differently.
camera-photo

Lautern make it three!

Preußen are having major problems with the hosts' crosses. Once again, Joly is not challenged when delivering his cross from the right side, and Prtaijn also gets to the header unchallenged at the six-yard box. Keeper Schenk initially saves the striker's attempt but then pushes the ball over the line himself. A bitter evening for Münster so far.

Münster without Mees

A bitter blow for Münster as their top scorer Mees is out. Amenyido comes into the team for him.

No changes for Lautern

Torsten Lieberknecht fields the same eleven that secured their 3-0 victory in Fürth. This means that captain Ritter remains on the bench, with Skyttä starting instead.

Torsten Lieberknecht on facing Preußen

"Münster have clear patterns in their pressing behaviour and with the ball. It's always difficult to talk about a patience game at the Betzenberg, but that might well be what awaits us tomorrow. We always want to develop further. Our focus is on being able to throw everything physically into the balance tomorrow."
camera-photo

Against his former club

The only player in the current Münster squad to have scored a goal against Lautern in Bundesliga 2 before is himself a former Red Devil: Jannis Heuer moved from Kaiserslautern to Münster on loan at the beginning of August, having made 26 appearances last term for the Red Devils. In February 2023, he fired his then-team Paderborn to a 1-0 home victory over Kaiserslautern with a direct free kick.

Champions versus runners-up

In 1963/64, both clubs played together in the Bundesliga, and in 1951 they even faced each other in the German Championship final. Ottmar Walter scored twice in front of 85,000 spectators at Berlin's Olympiastadion, as Lautern came from behind to win 2-1, after Fiffi Gerritzen had given Preußen the lead, to become German champions for the very first time.

Münster's last success in this fixture

Münster last won against Kaiserslautern in the 3. Liga. Simon Scherder was among the goalscorers in the 3-2 home victory back in August 2019, whilst in August 2018, they achieved their only ever away win in Kaiserslautern (2-1)
camera-photo

Another late win for Lautern?

Kaiserslautern won both matches against Münster last season through late goals: Ragnar Ache (now of Cologne) scored the 1-0 winner in the 86th minute away at the Preußenstadion, while Luca Sirch secured the 2-1 victory in stoppage time at home in the reverse fixture.
