Full-time: Nuremberg 1-1 Preußen Münster

After Zoma missed the goal several times in the first half, he used the first opportunity in the second to put Nuremberg deservedly in front. Just seven minutes later, however, Münster executed a counter-attack well and surprisingly equalised through captain Hendrix. This equaliser briefly gave the Eagles momentum, but Reichert made several saves to secure a points for the hosts, while Münster pick up their first point of 2026.

Nuremberg attack

Yilmaz wins another corner. Münster has been completely focused on defending for the last few minutes.

Yilmaz!

The defender penetrates the penalty area on the left, feints and then shoots but there are far too many Münster players in front of him, throwing themselves into the path of the shot.

Even more fresh legs

87'

Can they find another?

Nuremberg have scored at least twice in each of their last five home matches – will they extend this streak today? Time is running out.
85'

Klose means business

The Nuremberg coach makes a triple substitution as they look to regain the lead.
84'

Who's there?

Markhiev thinks a teammate is making a run and plays what would be a lovely through ball into the visitors' penalty area. Unfortunately, no teammate has actually made the run and the ball rolls harmlessly away.
82'

Another long-range shot!

Münster are moving the ball well in the final third. Rondić lays it off for Meyerhöfer, who unleashes another rocket with his right foot towards Reichert, but once again the Nuremberg keeper distinguishes himself.
79'

Münster throws everything in

Lubach's free-kick from the left is headed away by Münster, where substitute Nzingoula takes a shot, but his attempt is blocked for a corner, which comes to nothing.
78'

Can't gain a foothold

The equaliser was a real blow for the hosts, who are now hardly allowing seeing any possession, but Zoma manages to control a long ball up front to at least wins a throw-in.
76'

Münster now on the front foot!

The visitors are sniffing at the lead here! Rondić delivers the ball low into the middle, where Hendrix targets the near post from the left, but Reichert is on hand and parries it behind for a corner.
72'

Münster again!

Batista Meier takes a shot from outside the box. The ball wobbles significantly, giving Reichert considerable trouble when trying to save it!
72'

Rondić nearly scores!

Batista Meier makes ground on the right wing and delivers a perfect low cross into the centre. There, Amenyido stops the ball for his striking partner Rondić, who fails to get the ball on target.
69'

Stoppage

Gruber catches Rondić on the head, forcing the attacker off to get bandaged.
66'

Bitter for Nuremberg

The hosts now naturally need to shake this off a bit. After they finally rewarded themselves for their many offensive actions, the immediate equaliser followed. This could give Münster a boost, but at the moment most of the play is taking place in midfield.
camera-photo

The equaliser out of nowhere!

What a counter-attack from the visitors! Hendrix drives the ball forward, plays it out to the left to Kirkeskov, who returns it with a one-touch pass. Hendrix then has plenty of space and places the ball into the right corner, despite Reichert getting a slight touch on it.

Strong tackle

For the first time in the second half, Münster manages to get into the attacking third. But then Markhiev pulls off a textbook sliding tackle and prevents any further danger.
53'

Nuremberg demand a penalty!

Markhiev goes down in the penalty area and demands a spot-kick. So much so that he has to be cautioned by the referee.
52'

Good Support

Münster keeper Schenk has already made three saves, of which statistically only 2.1 would have been expected. So far, he's keeping the scores level.

Zoma again and again

Nuremberg are on the attack once more. Lubach plays the ball to Zoma, who almost loses the ball on the left side of the box, but somehow still manages to get it into the middle. The cross, however, is more like a shot – Scobel is hit by the ball and has no chance to control it.
46'

We're back under way!

Münster make a double substitution for the second half: Meyerhöfer and new signing Rondić replace Heuer and Schulz.

Half-time: Nuremberg 0-0 Preußen Münster

The hosts have clearly been setting the tone offensively so far, creating several clear-cut chances, but are still lacking efficiency in front of goal. Münster have occasionally threatened on the counter-attack, but they'll need to step up their game in the second half if they want to take any points away tonight.

A little too much power

Counter-attack opportunity for Nuremberg! Scobel sends Zoma through and he outpaces three Münster players with his speed, but his pace isn't quite enough to reach the ball. Schenk is alert and dives onto the ball.
42'

Nuremberg wasteful

The hosts have never had such poor conversion of chances this season, with zero goals from an xGoals value of 1.51.

Justvan on the move forward

The Nuremberg attacker has been one of the best players on the pitch.
39'

Handball

Again, a free-kick sails dangerously into the Münster's penalty area, and the visitors are lucky that Lubach handled the ball, depriving himself of a good shooting opportunity.
36'

Cautions in quick succession

Zoma wins the foot race against Heuer on the left flank and is then also brought down by a sliding tackle.
35'

Counter-attack stopped

Batista Meier was just about to rush forward, but he was stopped in his tracks by Gruber, who is shown a yellow card.

Nuremberg are almost always a step quicker, winning nearly 60 percent of the duels.
20'

Good attempt

The set piece from the right sails to the far post. There, Schulz plucks the ball out of the air and smashes it well over Reichert's goal.
19'

Münster attack

The visitors pulled back a bit in the last few minutes, but now attack with ter Horst down the right flank. His subsequent cross is deflected by a Nuremberg player for a corner.
17'

Justvan!

The Nuremberg man has been central to their attacking play. Now he looks for a shot from outside the penalty area, but his low drive whistles just past the left post!
12'

Double chance for the hosts

A free-kick from a central position sails dangerously into the penalty area, where Gruber rises for a header, but he doesn't get enough power behind the ball. Shortly after, Lochoshvili tries from just under 10 metres, his shot narrowly missing the left post.

Another huge chance for Zoma!

Again, Münster's build-up play isn't great. Justvan reacts quickly, advances a few metres and then plays a perfect pass to Zoma. He rounds Schenk and tries to slot the ball into an empty net, but Heuer rushes in and clears the ball just before it crosses the line!
4'

Münster respond!

The first chance for the visitors follows immediately. Amenyido receives the ball on the right side of the penalty area, feints briefly and shoots. Janisch throws himself into the shot and thus prevents the ball from flying towards the goal. Huge block!
camera-photo

Almost the opening goal!

Münster keeper Schenk plays a sloppy ball which is picked up by Lubach, who plays the ball first time to a completely unmarked Zoma. He shoots, but too centrally to beat Schenk. The follow-up shot from Justvan also lacks accuracy! Two chances in quick succession.

Milestone for the visitors!

Münster are playing their 400th Bundesliga 2 match today.

A potential debutant

Marko Soldic turned 16 on 6 January and normally plays in the U17 youth league. Today, he is a part of the Nuremberg's first team squad for the first time.

New signings in both squads

Nuremberg had to send Pape Demba Diop back to Strasbourg early, but have instead loaned another Strasbourg player, Rabby Nzingoula. He is in the squad for the first time, as are Münster's two new strikers Imad Rondić (who scored one Bundesliga 2 goal for Cologne last season) and Shin Yamada (most recently at Celtic).

"Friday evening in Nuremberg - that should be another highlight. What's more, matches against teams that have a similar setup [to us] are always exciting."
