Wolfsburg - VfL Wolfsburg have signed Swiss U-21 international Francisco Rodriguez from FC Zürich.

'A dream come true'

The attacking midfielder, who becomes the club's second signing of the summer, is the younger brother of current first-team star Ricardo Rodriguez and has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Lower Saxony side.

Hecking excited

"I'm delighted that it's all gone smoothly and I've joined Wolfsburg," said the 19-year-old. "VfL have really developed in the last few years and I can prove myself at the highest level here. Of course, it's also a dream come true that I can play in a team alongside my brother for the first time."

"We've followed Francisco's upward curve very closely in the last few months," explained Wolves sporting director Klaus Allofs. "Although he's an attacking midfielder, he has recently been used out wide. He's quick, technically very good and has the ability to play the killer pass. Despite his young age, he already has plenty of experience in professional football."

"Francisco is a young footballer with plenty of potential," added Wolfsburg head coach Dieter Hecking. "He fits the profile of player we were looking for and can now take the next step in his career here."

The five-time Swiss U-21 international made 28 top-flight appearances for Zürich last term, scoring twice, and featured six times in the UEFA Europa League.
