Hanover – Hannover 96 have further bolstered their attacking options ahead of the 2015/16 campaign after completing the signing of Mevlüt Erdinc from Ligue 1 outfit AS Saint-Etienne on Friday.

'A variety of qualities'

The 28-year-old journeyman, who boasts a strong goalscoring record in the French top flight having netted 82 times in 256 league outings for AS Saint-Etienne, Stade Rennais FC, Paris Saint-Germain and FC Sochaux-Montbeliard, has put pen to paper on a contract lasting until 30 June 2018.

“We have worked intensively to complete this transfer because it was clear to us that Mevlüt Erdinc embodies the type of striker that we want to have,” said Sporting Director Dirk Dufner. “His mentality suits us especially well. He’s a team player and uses his dynamism and robust approach for the benefit of the team.”

“Mevlüt Erdinc has proven how much of a threat he is in front of goal in recent years,” elaborated head coach Michael Frontzeck. “As a striker he has a variety of qualities: Clinical in front of goal, assertive in a challenge and a real presence in the opposition area. I’m convinced that he will help strengthen our side.”
