Sokratis not only scored with his feet in the Bundesliga for the first time in over four years in Borussia Dortmund’s 3-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, he also gracefully paid tribute to the absent Marc Bartra.
“It was a goal for Marc and his family, we hope that he comes back soon because we miss him,” said the selfless Greek defender following a traumatic few days for Die Schwarzgelben, but his goal, a magnificent strike from long-range, will have helped to lift spirits at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK.
Solid in defence and potent in attack, the centre-back ran away with the #BLMVP vote for Matchday 29!
- Sokratis had the third-most touches (82) and tackles (17) of any player on the pitch.
- He now has two goals for the season, the first time has grabbed more than one in six years in the Bundesliga.
- His goal was his fifth for Dortmund, and his first at home since his first for the club, which came against VfB Stuttgart on 1 November 2013.
