Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski equals long-standing Bundesliga goalscoring record
All hail the record-equalling Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich’s superstar striker whose current reign as the Bundesliga’s goalscoring king has heralded in one more phenomenal feat. In all eleven of the Bavarians’ home games this term, the Prolific Pole has netted in every single one.
On a long list that contains Bayer Leverkusen, Mainz, Wolfsburg, Freiburg, RB Leipzig, Augsburg, Hannover, Cologne, Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim, you can now add Schalke. Every team to have visited the Allianz Arena in the 2017/18 Bundesliga have felt the force of the mighty Lewandowski, who now stands alongside coach Jupp Heynckes as previously the only player to manage at least a goal in eleven successive home matches since the start of a campaign.
Registering doubles in the fixtures against Mainz in September and Bremen last month, brought the world-famous forward to 12 goals in ten games, before he trained his sights on Schalke.
That home tally now stands at 13 and what’s more, the 29-year-old will have the opportunity to shake off his current Bayern boss and make the record all his own when the defending champions host Hertha Berlin on Matchday 24 on February 24. Who would be brave enough to bet against the striker achieving what would be one more remarkable record?
