Joshua Kimmich was the early winner during the training session: he bested team-mates Thomas Müller and Mats Hummels in a crossbar challenge.

Carlo Ancelotti then spoke to the media in the afternoon, discussing the Bundesliga title race and targets for the second half of the season. "The aim before the season was to be first at this stage, which we are," Ancelotti said. "We can still improve, though, and I hope that we're able to build on the game against Leipzig."
