Hamburger SV have confirmed that USMNT striker Bobby Wood will join the club from Bundesliga 2 outfit 1. FC Union Berlin this summer.

The 23-year-old - who has scored 17 goals for Union this season, the most ever by an American in Germany's top two divisions - has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at the northern giants.

"We're very pleased to have sealed this transfer so early and are looking forward to welcoming a young player with huge potential for development, who has also already picked up plenty of international experience," said HSV chairman Dietmar Beiersdorfer.

Wood has made 23 appearances for the USMNT, scoring 12 goals in the process and becomes Hamburg’s first summer signing.
