- Lothar Matthäus touches down in L.A. on Legends Tour.
- Met with NBA legend James Worthy.
- Took helicopter ride with former teammate Jürgen Klinsmann.
Following hot on the heels of Jens Lehmann’s trip to Asia, the Americas provide the next stop on Bundesliga Legends tour. Germany’s former World Cup-winning captain Lothar Matthäus has touched down in Los Angeles on the first leg of his tour and already had some memorable encounters.
Even on the other side of the world, Lothar Matthäus felt right at home on his first appointment. As a pundit for FOX, Matthäus watched his former club FC Bayern München’s 3-1 victory in the Bavarian derby against FC Ingolstadt 04.
The match coincided with the start of the Oktoberfest in Munich and the studio was fittingly kitted out to resemble a traditional Bavarian pub.
After that the seven-time Bundesliga champion shared some unique insights with a seven-time NBA All Star. James Worthy, currently assistant coach of the LA Lakers, showed the former World Footballer of the Year how to execute the perfect throw.
Worthy went on to demonstrate a few basketball tricks and in return, Lothar showed him how to play keepy-uppy with a football.
From there it was only a short trip to meet an old acquaintance and another legend in Jürgen Klinsmann. The current coach of the US national side took his former Bayern and Germany teammate on a helicopter ride for a bird’s eye view of his new home in California.
The next leg of the tour will be Buenos Aires and we’ll keep you up to date with all the news right here and on our twitter channel using #BLLegendsTour.
