Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s winning smile has practically been a constant in the league so far. A larger-than-life character known for his extravagant goal celebrations, extrovert haircuts and very own Batmobile, the Dortmund striker has also been the centre of attention on the pitch this season, pillaging 18 goals in 16 games to move top of the league’s goalscoring charts.
FC Schalke 04 are well-known for the number of talented youngsters they bring through, but few have made as lasting an impression as Leroy Sane this season. The 19-year-old has scored four and assisted four already this term – including three winning goals – and earned a maiden call-up to the Germany national team in October.
After five defeats and the resignation of Lucien Favre as head coach, Borussia Mönchengladbach needed a fresh face and a new approach to get back on track, and with his amiable nature and relentless positivity, Andre Schubert has provided both. His team are working harder than ever and, most importantly, playing with a smile on their faces, having risen from bottom of the league to fifth, helped by a ten-match unbeaten run along the way.
