Cologne - While his FC Bayern München team-mates have been hard at work on the training ground this week, Mario Götze has been enjoying an extended summer holiday across the Atlantic.
The Germany international, given extended leave by the club on account of his involvement in Germany’s recently international games against Gibraltar and the USA, had the honour of throwing the first pitch for the LA Dodgers baseball team against the New York Mets at the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Room for improvement
As you can see from the video below, the 23-year-old was a tad rusty with his throw, and he admitted as much by tweeting “I can improve….”. The Dodgers complimented him nonetheless, however, by replying: “Probably would've hit the post and went in.“

Götze has indeed been rubbing shoulders with the stars, meeting pop stars will.i.am and Selene Gomez earlier this week.
