Current Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is the ideal candidate to take over at Bayern Munich next season, according to former Schalke and Bayern midfielder Olaf Thon.

Jupp Heynckes' contract expires in the summer, leaving the record champions in need of a new coach. Thon, who played for Bayern between 1988-1994, believes they only have one option, which is to appoint the best. For him, that can only mean former Borussia Dortmund coach, Klopp.

"I've been thinking, since I know Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who would be an even better choice for Bayern than Thomas Tuchel," Thon told Kicker. "That can only be Klopp. The big question is whether they can lure him away from Liverpool.

"I don't know any other coach, a Lucien Favre or anybody else, who I feel would fit in at Bayern. I believe Bayern will do everything they can to get the best coach after Jupp Heynckes, and in my eyes that can only be Klopp."
