Hertha Berlin are celebrating the appointment of Bibiana Steinhaus as referee for their match against Werder Bremen on Sunday by offering a 50 percent discount on tickets to female fans.

Steinhaus, a 38-year-old policewoman from Hannover, will become the first female referee in Bundesliga history when she takes charge of the Matchday 3 fixture at the Olympiastadion.
The club from the capital are marking what it terms an “historic moment” by giving female supporters a chance to purchase a special “Bibiana Steinhaus Ticket”.

Women can buy a maximum of two tickets for the lower part of blocks L-O via Hertha fanshops or the club’s telephone hotline. The offer is limited to 250 bookings.
Steinhaus has been taking charge of Bundesliga 2 matches since the 2007/08 season but was promoted to the DFB’s panel of referees for top-flight games in May.
