Cologne - It was the moment of Matchday 2 as TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Kevin Volland equalled a Bundesliga record by opening the scoring in the 2-1 loss to FC Bayern München in just nine seconds, mere milliseconds faster than Bayer 04 Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi who achieved the same feat against Borussia Dortmund almost exactly a year ago today - 23 August 2014.

There has never been a faster goal in Bundesliga history

Volland and Bellarabi are the joint record holders having both scored in just nine seconds, though the Hoffenheim striker can claim to be one up on his Leverkusen counterpart having also set the record with his side's first touch of the entire encounter, something that has never happened before in Bundesliga history.

Talking after his side's 1-0 win over Hannover 96, Bellarabi had kinds words regarding Volland's achievement. "Kevin is a good friend of mine and I've heard that he also scored after 9 seconds," said the 25-year-old. "Then we have the record together. I'm delighted for him and will write him as soon as possible."
