Your initial transfer budget hasn’t changed either, with 150 million available to spend on a squad of 15 players (player values range from one to 15 million). The Supercup represents the perfect opportunity to get a closer look at some of the stars likely to be pushing for a place in your final selection. And who knows, perhaps Dortmund and Bayern will conjure up such a spectacle on Saturday that you’ll want to assemble a squad made up entirely of players from the two Bundesliga giants. After all, there is no limit on the number of players you can sign from any given team.

The limited budget means you would have to spend your money wisely, but with a bit of nous you should be able to assemble a squad to terrify the living daylights out of your opponents! Here’s how you do it…

Don't waste money on substitutes!

First of all, you need to decide on a system. If you opt for a 4-4-2 formation - as we have here - you’ll have a substitute available in every position. Ideally your substitutes shouldn’t be worth more than a million each, leaving you with 146 million to spend on your first XI!

Let’s start off with a bang and partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Robert Lewandowski in attack. Assuming you opt for the league’s two most prolific frontmen - who are both worth 15 million - you’ll have 116 million left in the kitty.

BVB starlets Ousmane Dembele and Christian Pulisic can wreak havoc on the wings, with Bayern duo Corentin Tolisso and Arturo Vidal providing stability and creativity in the centre of the park. That midfield quartet would cost 53 million - which leaves 63 million for your defence and goalkeeper.

Bayern and Germany rock Jerome Boateng is a no-brainer in central defence, while the addition of Dortmund’s effortlessly elegant Marc Bartra would leave you with a centre-back pairing to rival any in the game - and all for only 25 million! As for the full-backs, David Alaba and Lukasz Piszczek are almost as dangerous going forward as they are committed in defence.

That leaves 12 million for you to spend on your ‘keeper. At 15 million, Bayern custodian Manuel Neuer is too expensive, but BVB’s Roman Bürki provides an excellent alternative between the sticks. The Swiss international costs just 11 million.
