SV Werder Bremen 3-2 VfL Wolfsburg

Goals: 1-0 Pizarro (pen. 32'), 1-1 Guilavogui (36'), 2-1 Bartels (64'), 3-1 Yatabare (83'), 3-2 Dost (86')

Viktor Skripnik (Werder Bremen coach): "It was an extremely important win, not only because of our league position but also psychologically. We wanted to be more aggressive, like we had been in our recent home games. The special atmosphere in the stadium gave us something extra. We are absolutely delighted to have beaten an opponent like Wolfsburg. This was important for our self-confidence as we head into the final stretch of the season."

Claudio Pizarro (Bremen striker): "Thanks to everyone for your support!"

Dieter Hecking pre-match

Dieter Hecking (Wolfsburg coach): "Werder deserved to win. We did not manage to defend well and when we went forward our players were too far apart. It was difficult to string moves together. Apart from that we made too many mistakes, which made it easy for Werder Bremen to threaten us. It was not a surprise to concede three goals playing as we did."

Fin Bartels (Werder Bremen midfielder): "We deserved this victory as a team. We worked hard from the outset, and you could see that Wolfsburg had tired legs after their Champions League efforts. That created space for us, which we used well. It is annoying that all of our direct competitors also won, but we need to concentrate on ourselves."

Jannik Vestergaard (Werder Bremen defender): "It was a very important win for us. The support was insane. Thank you!"
