Dortmund - Borussia Dortmund skipper Mats Hummels admitted it wasn't the league leaders' "best performance" in their 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin on Sunday afternoon, but was satisfied after taking all three points

Mats Hummels: "Our main aim was to maintain a high tempo today. It wasn’t our best performance against a defensively minded opponent, but the most important thing is that we’re walking away as winners. We lacked concentration in certain situations. The conditions didn’t make it easy, but that’s when it’s most important to maintain concentration and we made a few too many avoidable mistakes for my liking. We know we have a lot of quality, but we’ve seen today that there are no easy matches in the Bundesliga."

Marcel Schmelzer: "The heat and Hertha’s deep-lying backline both made life difficult for us today. We didn’t do everything we'd hoped to do, but that makes taking all three points so much more important. There wasn’t a lot of space to make use of in the opposition half. That [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan is playing really well is clear to see and it’s a lot of fun to be playing with him at present."

Hertha Berlin

Roman Bürki: “The victory feels great and we deserved it because we worked hard for it. We took our foot off the gas a little bit compared to our last games but we got back into it and managed to win in the end. Unfortunately I couldn’t keep a clean sheet but overall we defended superbly, despite the heat.”

Matthias Ginter: “We had more possession and after an hour your opponent always gets tired when they’re just chasing the ball. It was a shame we didn’t make it 3-0 because if you’re 2-0 up it’s always a dangerous scoreline, which we saw today. Things got tight again after they made it 2-1, even if we didn’t give them any more chances. Fortunately we were able to score again to make it 3-1. We’re very happy to have won all three points.”

John Anthony Brooks: "I think we did okay, so we're disappointed to lose. It was tough when they scored and the weather made it harder, Now we have two weeks to prepare for VfB Stuttgart. There are a few guys away on international duty but we'll work hard to be ready."

Sebastian Langkamp: "In the first 20 minutes we had two great chances. If we'd gone in front I wonder if Dortmund would have come from behind because they’ve played a lot more matches at the start of this season than we have. To concede in the manner we did was disappointing, especially to go 2-0 down as a result of one of the few moments we gave them space."

Marvin Plattenhardt: "I think we did really well in the first half and could have potentially gone in front had we been a little bit more clinical in front of goal. Were just a yard off the pace a lot of the time and that’s what we have to work on. We’re taking things game by game and will start preparing ourselves for the next opponent."
