• Thiago MOTM the last time Bayern faced Hertha.
  • Guerreiro scored one and set up another against Wolfsburg on MD4.
  • Leverkusen's Toprak unbeaten against Augsburg.

Given the number of upsets in the Bundesliga on Matchday 20, I wasn’t too unhappy with my total points haul of 82 last weekend. James and Flo only scored 73 each - better luck next time, boys!

There is ample room for improvement, nonetheless. With several of my regular starters, including Willi Orban and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, failing to impress last time out, no-one is safe from being dropped. The following players are up against one of their favourite top-flight opponents on Matchday 21, but which of them do you think deserves a place in my team?

Raphael Guerreiro (10.45M, vs. VfL Wolfsburg)

Raphael Guerreiro scored one and set up another in his first ever league appearance against Wolfsburg.

The Portuguese starlet was one of Borussia Dortmund’s better performers in the Yellow-Blacks’ 2-1 defeat at SV Darmstadt 98. His goal at the Jonathan-Heimes-Stadion am Böllenfalltor helped him pick up seven points on Matchday 20, and if his first ever league appearance against the Wolves is anything to go by, Guerreiro is set to score big on Matchday 21 too: The 23-year-old scored one and set up another in the 5-1 win at the Volkswagen Arena back on Matchday 4. More of the same on Saturday please, Raphael!

Thiago Alcantara (13.9M, vs. Hertha Berlin)

Thiago played the full 90 minutes on his return from injury against FC Ingolstadt 04 and is highly likely to be handed a starting berth at the Olympiastadion on Saturday. The 25-year-old was directly involved in two goals (one goal, one assist) in his last appearance against Pal Dardai’s team, a 3-0 victory at the Allianz Arena in September. The Spain international was a regular fixture in my fantasy side during the first half of the campaign - it might be time to bring him back into the fold.

Yuya Osako (7.85M, vs. FC Schalke 04)

Köln's Yuya Osako was voted January's Player of the Month.

The Japanese star has been in superb form for 1. FC Köln in recent weeks. His performance in the 6-1 demolition of Darmstadt on Matchday 18 helped earn him the January Player of the Month award, and although he hasn’t found the net since, I am sorely tempted to bring him into my team on Matchday 21. Not only did he score in his last appearance against the Royal Blues (a 3-1 win at the Veltins Arena on Matchday 4), he usually clocks up a decent amount of points in other categories too.

Ömer Toprak (11.2M, vs. FC Augsburg)

The Turkey international, who will join Dortmund in the summer, is hoping to help guide Leverkusen back into the European spots after an inconsistent first half of the campaign. Indeed, victory at Augsburg on Friday could lift Roger Schmidt’s charges to within five points of third-place Eintracht Frankfurt. Thankfully for Leverkusen fans, Die Werkself have won five of their six league matches against Augsburg with Toprak in their side (the other ended all square). Still not convinced? Toprak has averaged eight Fantasy points a game since the turn of the calendar year…

Matthias Ostrzolek (8.75M, vs. SC Freiburg)

Matthias Ostrzolek has won 15 points through won challenges in his last two outings for Hamburg.

I haven’t recommended many Hamburg players this season, but given the Red Shorts’ current form - and Freiburg’s desperate away record - I’m sorely tempted to bring Ostrzolek into my team this weekend. Not only has the full-back helped HSV keep a clean sheet in both their last two league matches (against Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, no less), Ostrzolek has also collected 15 points for won duels this month alone. Priced at just under 9M, he could prove to be a real bargain.
