Kingsley Coman has blossomed since joining FC Bayern München on loan from Juventus in the summer and is currently enjoying the best spell of his fledgling career.

In an exclusive interview with the 19-year-old Parisian, who recently became a full France international, talks about his own fine form, his aims leading up to the winter break and why he is eagerly anticipating Franck Ribery’s return. Kingsley Coman, you have been at Bayern for three months now. You are enjoying a lot of game time and recently scored against Olympiacos FC in the UEFA Champions League and Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga. Would you say feel you have settled in fully at the club?

Kingsley Coman: Things have been going extremely well since I’ve been in Munich. I’ve been fortunate that my coach puts his trust in me and I try to justify that faith as best I can. I’ve scored a few goals, have set some up and I’m playing regularly. I’m very happy. Things could hardly being going any better for me.

'My confidence is growing with every game'

© gettyimages / Alexander Hassenstein Do you have the sense that you are able to link up increasingly well with your team-mates?

Coman: Definitely. My confidence is growing with every game I play. I can play to my potential. I’m not afraid of failing, or that I might get substituted off if I try something in a match and it doesn’t come off. That’s just not the case. The coach puts his trust in me and I can tell my team-mates trust me too. They’re finding me much better out on the pitch. I feel really good here. Which position do you feel most comfortable in?

Coman: I play best on either flank but as my goal against Hertha showed, I also have qualities inside the penalty area and my finishing is improving. It’s important to be able to play in different positions so that the coach has more options and the team can become even more unpredictable. You are only 19, but have you ever played in such a strong side?

Coman: Juventus had an outstanding team last season and almost won the treble of the domestic league, cup and the Champions League. I think this Bayern team play at a fantastic level. I really enjoy every game and if we can maintain this rhythm until the end of the season I’ve no doubt we’ll achieve great things.

'I don’t see Franck as a rival'

Coman: We’ve got a difficult game away to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday. They’re tough to beat at the moment but we want to win every match we play and want to break even more records. So if we could go into the winter break with three more wins that’d be ideal. We also want to reach the next round of the DFB Cup. You have not yet been able to play alongside Franck Ribery at Bayern. Are you looking forward to his return?

Coman: Of course. The more options we have, the better it is for the team. Franck is on the right track and he’ll be back in full team training in the next few days. We may play in the same position but I don’t see him as a rival for a place in the side; I see him as an example. I can learn a great deal from him because he’s got so much experience.
