Cologne - As FC Bayern München continue their relentless march towards the Bundesliga title, star striker Robert Lewandowski intensifies his personal crusade to retain the Torjägerkanone - and the Pole's efforts have been rewarded after his incredible opener in the 3-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt was voted the Matchday 28 Goal of the Week.

Latching onto Thomas Müller's header, Lewandowski juggled the ball over an unsuspecting defender's head before swivelling to send an unstoppable volley into the top corner of Kevin Trapp's goal from just inside the box. Indeed, a staggering 68 per cent of bundesliga.com users felt that the 26-year-old's 15th-minute strike merited the award - nearly seven times the amount of votes received by his nearest challenger.

Stocker strike in second

While Lewandowski eventually netted a brace to cement his position in the top three of the scorers' chart, it was another volley which came runner-up in the users' poll, with Valentin Stocker's brilliant low effort to rescue Hertha Berlin a point in a 1-1 draw with Hannover 96 garnering 10 per cent of votes. In joint-third place with eight per cent each came Hakan Calhanoglu's artful free kick in Bayer 04 Leverkusen's 3-2 win at 1. FSV Mainz 05, and Thomas Müller's eye-of-the-needle strike against the Eagles.

Taking the final place on the Matchday 28 podium was 1. FC Köln's Jonas Hector (six per cent), whose mazy run from inside his own half ended with him beating six players and scoring the winner from the edge of the area as the Billy Goats picked up a crucial 3-2 win over TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
