Dortmund - Borussia Dortmund full-back Marcel Schmelzer has been ruled out for a minimum of two weeks after suffering a knee injury in BVB’s UEFA Champions League defeat to Juventus FC on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old was replaced by Oliver Kirch at half time of their last-16 second-leg defeat to the Italian giants and is now certain to miss Saturday’s clash with Hannover 96 at the HDI Arena. However, he is hoping to be fit in time for the Klassiker between BVB and FC Bayern München on 4 April.

Schmelzer has been restricted to just 14 league appearances this term, having struggled with groin and hand injuries earlier in the campaign.
