Striker Ya Konan rejoins Hannover
Hanover - Cote d'Ivoire striker Didier Ya Konan has rejoined Hannover 96 just over six months after leaving the club for Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad, putting pen to paper on a contract lasting until 30 June 2015 that includes the option of an extension.
'A striker of exceptional qualities'
Ya Konan made 152 appearances during a five-year stint at the HDI Arena between 2009 and 2014, scoring 44 goals and chipping in with a further 26 assists.
'I'm coming home and it's a wonderful feeling," said a delighted Ya Konan at his official unveiling on Tuesday afternoon. "God knows my path and I trust him. It makes me proud to be able to wear the Hannover shirt and to play in front of these fans again. Now I will work hard to make my comeback at the earliest opportunity."
"He's a striker of exceptional qualities," head coach Tayfun Korkut told the assembled media. "We will work hard on getting him fit for the Bundesliga and then we'll have a first-class addition to our attack. In signing Didier Ya Konan, we've added to the overall depth of our squad." Hannover resume their league campaign with a visit to FC Schalke 04 this weekend, which is one of six live matches broadcast across the globe on Matchday 18.
