Bremen in good spirits

"Someone's enjoying watching the lads run", reads Bremen's Instagram post below of head coach Viktor Skripnik putting his troops through their paces earlier today:

BVB star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang began the 2015 Africa Cup of nations with a bang by scoring in Gabon's opening-day win against Burkina Faso, but his fortunes have since slumped. The Panthers were beaten 1-0 by Congo on Machday 2 and last night lost 2-0 to co-hosts Equatorial Guinea, confirming their group stage exit.

On a dull, dreary and cold Monday morning (in Cologne at least), console yourself with the thought that the competitive return of the league of the world champions is just four (and a half) days away. The long wait to see if Wolfsburg can prove the title race still has life left in it is almost at an end!

Sunday 25 January

Dortmund have been boosted by what Mats Hummels revealed in the mixed zone at Fortuna Düsseldorf yesterday. "I feel fitter now than at any point during the Hinrunde," said the 26-year-old. Encouragingly, Ilkay Gündogan's thigh complaint is not as serious as first feared.

Schalke may have lost their final friendly match of the winter break 2-1 against SK Rapid Wien today, but there was at least one positive to take from the fixture: centre-back , who has only played six league games this season and whose last outing was on Matchday 12, returned from injury as a substitute.

Over half of the Bundesliga sides are in action today, with the opportunity to fine-tune their tactics ahead of Matchday 18 next weekend. Leverkusen, Gladbach, Mainz, Schalke, Hannover, Bremen, Frankfurt, Paderborn, Köln and Dortmund are the teams having a run-out. Check out the results later on by clicking here.

We're just six days away from the Bundesliga restart, so to make the wait that little bit more bearable we've gathered up all of the 2014/15 Goal of the Month winners so far into one handy compilation. Check it out below, and head to the official Bundesliga YouTube channel for more offbeat videos.

Morning everyone. It appears Cologne is rather behind the times: instead of snow at Christmas time, the city is under a thick, white shroud today, with the Bundesliga's return just six days away. Let's just hope the weather doesn't affect Wolfsburg vs. Bayern next Friday, and to get you in the mood, here's Arjen Robben, now aged 31, putting Bochum to the sword in last night's 5-1 friendly win.

Friday 23 January
