Munich - FC Bayern München sporting director Matthias Sammer expects defensive duo (thigh) and (knee) to return to action early in the new year following injury.

'All the time in the world'

"Holger is already well on the way; I reckon he'll be back in team training at the start of January," the 47-year-old told fcbayern.de. "David might take a few more days, he'll be integrated pretty quickly over the course of the winter training camp [in Doha, 9-17 January]."

Sammer remained noncommittal on the subject of and (both knee), but did say goalkeeper (ankle) is likely to make the trip to the Qatari capital. Bayern captain , meanwhile, "could be back by mid-late February" after suffering a fractured ankle in training on 18 November.

"The most important thing is their health, they've got all the time in the world," Sammer affirmed. "Lahm and Thiago won't go to the training camp. We still haven't made a decision about Javi. We'll come back to that at the start of the year. All the other players will be there."
