Dortmund - Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been named on the final shortlist for the 2014 CAF African Player of the Year award.

Three-way battle

The 25-year-old Gabonese forward, who joined the five-time Bundesliga champions from French side AS Saint-Etienne in July 2013, has been making quite an impression since swapping Ligue 1 for the German top flight, scoring 18 goals while setting up another eight in 49 appearances.

Aubameyang found the net on 16 occasions in all competitions last year. He has scored 11 so far this season, playing a key part in Borussia's progression to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, but has been unable to prevent the Schwarz-Gelben slipping to 17th in the domestic table halfway into 2014/15.

Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure (Manchester City FC) and Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama (LOSC Lille) complete the three-man shortlist.

The winner of the award, which is conferred by the Confederation of African Football, will be announced at a gala in Nigeria's capital Lagos on 8 January 2015.
