Hamburg - Winless Hamburger SV have received a boost with the return of club captain Rafael van der Vaart to first-team training.
The Dutch attacking midfielder was withdrawn 37 minutes into the club's Matchday 2 encounter against SC Paderborn 07 with a calf problem, but is available to head coach Mirko Slomka for Matchday 3's trip to Hanover.
Arslan back, Jansen out
Hamburg, who have yet to score a goal this season after drawing 0-0 with 1. FC Köln and losing 3-0 to Paderborn, also welcomed back Tolgay Arslan to training yesterday, the midfielder having recovered from a toe complaint. Slomka, however, will have to do without left-sided midfielder Marcell Jansen for the foreseeable future after the 28-year-old suffered a groin strain in training.
