Cologne - There was plenty of endeavour from both sides at the RheinEnergieStadion on Saturday, but 1. FC Köln and Hamburger SV were forced to settle for a goalless draw in their Matchday 1 encounter.

Hamburger SV

bundesliga.com is on hand to round up the players' post-match thoughts...

It was a fair result in the end. Unfortunately we weren't able to make the most of our chances but overall I think our performance was good and it'll give us confidence ahead of our next matches. In the first half I had some trouble with my thigh but I was able to grit my teeth and play on.

Valon Behrami: The Bundesliga is nothing like Serie A. The game is played at a much faster pace and you have to keep running all game. This is certainly the fasted league I've played in. You don't have any time to think. We were well organised at the back and didn't allow them many chances. We need to continue like that and then we can play out from the back with greater security to start our attacks.

We started the match well, primarily because we were solid at the back and were able to go forward with a greater sense of confidence. We were just inches away from scoring on one or two attacks but on the whole we were in control of the game. We could have taken the lead right at the start of the second half but the ball just didn't want to go in.

Timo Horn: You definitely notice the step up in quality from Bundesliga 2 to the Bundesliga. It was a tough afternoon and we couldn't really find any sort of rhythm, but I think a draw was a fair result at the end of the day.

Kevin Wimmer: It feels great to be playing in the Bundesliga. 0-0 is an acceptable result for us, but we're certain to improve in the coming weeks. We were tough in the tackle and aggressive, but we have to improve our finishing.
