Berlin - Hertha Berlin have boosted their ranks for the coming campaign by completing the signing of Switzerland attacker Valentin Stocker.
The 25-year-old joins from Swiss champions FC Basel 1893 and has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the capital club until the summer of 2018.
“Valentin Stocker is an outstanding player that fits our bill perfectly,” said Hertha sporting director Michael Preetz during a press conference at which the player was presented to the assembled media. “He adds variety to our attacking play and he's also a threat up front.”
The 21-time international, who will be representing his country at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil this summer, expressed his delight at earning a move to Germany's top flight, and the Old Lady in particular. “I'm very glad to be able to play in the Bundesliga in the future. I was always hoping to join Hertha, and move to Berlin.”
